With a heavy heart I have decided to list my super low milage satin silver mk3 polo saloon. I am in no rush and don't need to sell but it is just sat not being driven enough. I had intended to do an engine conversion on the car but being so original and with only 44 thousand miles on the clock is just seems a shame. It has full service history. All original handbook and manuals. I bought the car completely standard with no MOT. I trailored the car home and then got to work.
I have been a member on clubpolo for many years (username:femolover) and have owned a hell of a lot of polos. This is the best condition one I have had by far.
The car is insured at an agreed £1800.
As it stands now:
Satin silver non sunroof shell.
1.3 multipoint engine (NZ).
5 speed gearbox (super smooth, no crunches or noises).
C&R chain reinforced exhaust hanger
Rev counter clocks installed (original odometer swapped onto the rev counter clocks to retain the cars correct milage). Mileage verified by all the
service history and MOT certificates.
New fuel tank fitted by previous owner.
Grey interior in great condition, all switches work as they should, all dash bulbs work as they should, heater switches etc all work as they should.
Roof lining and carpet are immaculate.
New leather gear gaitor.
Golf ball gear nob (original included).
internally adjusting mirrors all work as should.
Sony MEX-N4000BT (bluetooth) headunit installed (correctly, nothing butchered).
Original Blaupunkt tape deck included in the sale (including all the user manuals).
Aerial is intact and has not been broken off or damaged.
Pressed plates (originals had delaminated and needed replacement but will be in the boot for new owner to keep).
Scorpion sterling excel immobilizer fitted (by a professional with all documentation included) has 2 fobs and works perfectly, red LED warning on dash.
This is thatcham approved and recognised by insurance companies.
New VW alarm warning stickers in original location on rear windows.
All locks work (including bootlock) and both original keys are present.
Stoplock PRO (more expensive/good one) Thatcham approved steering lock (same colour scheme as the car....yes very geeky)
Brand new (not second hand) G-lader poly ARB blocks fitted with donut clamps.
Brand new AP 60/40 (rear adjustable with the circlip on the shock tube). Had this kit on a previous G40 and it was great so bought one for this car. This kit was fitted with brand new FEBI top mounts and new pinch lower bolts from VW back in October 2015 but these have literally seen 200 miles at most so all suspension is like new.
Car tracking was done after suspension was on and had settled and runs lovely and straight.
The car will come on original steels with trims but will come with the set of ATS classics in the picture. These have been powdercoated in satin silver and have no marks to the finish and come with original and mint centre caps locking wheel nuts and key. Full set of black bolt covers. Extended wheels bolts for the rear wheels as there is a set of brand new 15mm hubcentric (not cheap curse word) spacers on the rear.
It's the best condition polo i have owned and for 25 years old it is in fantastic condition. There are a couple of car park dents (very minor and were difficult to photograph), the odd light scratch and stone chip (but this is being very very harsh on the car). Underside is insanely clean and the sills and jacking points are solid and no rust. Under the arch trims the arches are solid and tidy. The lowest rivet had come out of the arch trim on the drivers side (rivet had died), drilled out the old rivet and re riveted (genuine 've rivets) in the original holes in the trim and the arch and they were clean and complete. Lot of time these lowest rivet holes/portion of the arch is paggered but this one is excellent. Photographed the only piece of rust worth mentioning which is this very small scab (smaller than a 10P coin) or surface rust on the drivers side door frame. Blatantly where a previous owner has swung off a loose seatbelt which has chipped the paint allowing it to rust a small amount (please see the photo). I have also included a photograph of the lower door (common rust spot) and the rust scab, you can see how small the spot is and how clean the lower doors are. The scab of rust would be a doddle to put right. Lower front wings are mint (common spot to go on these cars), Lower doors are mint (another common spot for rust), boot floor is immaculate. There is no rust around the windscreen, wiper arm holes, and window seals.
Car drives extremely well, oil is clear, doesn't burn oil or water, no untoward smoke from the exhaust, gearbox is lovely. Idle drops a tad low when warm sometimes but does not effect the driving of the car. It did this when i bought it and i haven't played around with anything as it drives great.
This is a rare chance to own a VW that you would struggle/be impossible to replace. I could not resist buying it and have spent a good chunk of money making it a very cool VW whilst still retaining as much original charm as possible....i would like this to continue and would hate to see this car ruined. I have been as thorough as possible and will answer any genuine questions quickly and honestly. PM me for any further information etc (I will not be continuously checking this thread so PM will probably be faster). The car is £1600 firm and is worth every penny. I have seen a lot of rusty, ropey money pits over the last couple of years for this sort of money.
Pics from the car fully cleaned just after fitting the suspension parts etc: (oct 2015)
Some quick photos as of about 2 hours ago:
Pic of the small rust scab mentioned above:
Pic of the same area and lower door showing size and how clean the lower doors are:
Pic of under the petrol flap (immaculate):
The car has only 2 previous owners. The mileage when I had it MOT'd back in September was 43,614. The reason for sale is genuine it is just not getting the use it deserves.
The price is £1600. I have seen some right ropey curse word for sale for a lot of money over the last few years. This car is extremely good and I have spent a lot of my time and money on it. No rush to see the back of it.
Any further questions or information please contact my by PM,
Thank you
