Are you going to be covering some distance ie hundreds of miles? I would get a modernish car that i could probably sell on for what i paid when i'm done
The car which comes to mind is the MK4 Golf 130 TDI. I borrowed an estate one of these once and was well impressed with the performance and economy (6 speed box)
IF you bought one with 100k on the clock and put another 5k on i'm sure you'd make your money back
IF you're thinking just bombing around town i would think about Fiat Cinquecento / Seicento, Peugeot 106, Ford Fiesta (?) i hear they're fun to drive

Is it ten days including the day of the initial test or does it start the day after? Thinking about it, it is probably from the time of day the fail sheet is written. So if it written at 11:00 am on a Thursday, you have until 10:59 am on the Thursday two weeks later Retests are 10working days from the day after the initial failure. I know this as a tester and it is also printed on the failure sheet itself Nowt to do with the garage as said above, it's all on the computer system. It will either let you retest or do another full test. The testing station can only charge up to half the price of the full MOT test for a retest, if they charge for retests that is Ok so the clock starts ticking from midnight the following day? If it fails at 11:00am on a Thursday have i got the whole of the Thursday two weeks later to bring it back? Wouldn't it need to be before 11:00am?

Depends on who tests it. Some give you a week, others give you two. Not now it's all automated. It's entirely down to the DVLA system. You have 10 days, excluding saturdays and sundays to get it in for retest. Is it ten days including the day of the initial test or does it start the day after? Thinking about it, it is probably from the time of day the fail sheet is written. So if it written at 11:00 am on a Thursday, you have until 10:59 am on the Thursday two weeks later

Ring your MOT place and ask them to confirm? AFIK the 14 days isn't up to the garage - part of their MOT licence (from gov'ment / VOSA / etc) says the garage can retest for free up to 14 days, after that the *garage* has to pay for a new test (so they pass the fee on to you) I went through this last month when I couldn't find the parts I needed in time to get the car repaired & retested in the 14 days. I had to pay for another test - my fault not theirs Yes i'm just being lazy. Which is partly why i haven't done the work I'll pull my finger out and get it to them tomorrow. That will sort it out

I would expect the Capri to be on Ebay again soon. Keep an eye out and you may even get it cheaper

They didn't just cut up a car to make those, the usually started out as a "special purpose" chassis from the factory: Available in lwb too: They're so cool to see

What if it were an orange flashing light? I believe they are not allowed unless you are actually causing a hazard A recovery driver told me he no longer drives with the orange lights on since a policeman said that if the car being hauled is correctly attached, it's no longer a hazard

But it is still likely to be effective in slowing the buyer down in coming back with accusations and / or problems

Speaking of marinas like the incorrectly angled dash a couple of pages ago, it really bothered me when I owned one having the wipers on the wrong side. They wiped up from the drivers side and stopped on passengers side , leaving a big curved un -wiped area in front of the driver. Does the dash still point to the passenger on left hand drive cars? Together with the wipers, it wouldn't surprise me if they geared up massively for European exports on a car that never sold well outside Commonwealth countries

Ferrari 348. It's just way too much car. It's for race car drivers only. I've never driven one. I'll take your word for it. But don't we all *think* we're racing drivers?

One thing that (as an owner) always annoyed me more than it should was the horn grilles not lining up with the indicators on the S1 XJ6 For the life of me I can't spot a difference. Can you point out which bits are different? Can you see the small gap between the indicator and the red line? It's now inline with the grills

I'd have to add idiots that put "Loading....." as the ad title. You're not original, not funny, and I will not click on your ad, therefore you're only shooting yourself in the foot. I haven't seen that. What does it mean?

The only thing your allowed to send is your physical address, no phone numbers or email addresses If you've been able to send your address then good, but you're not allowed to I think it's the postcode they can pick up on

Since September you are not allowed to put your phone number in the listing Ebay say they will remove numbers from listings and not allow those listings to be renewed And seeing as it against their rules they can impose restrictions / bans For me this is a worry as i have been banned once for 'selling outside ebay' and cannot afford another ban, but so many people ring me directly because my number is in the listing By removing it i will lose out to those willing to run the risk I would accept it if i thought they would police listings properly but i suspect most people will get away with it
