Undoing the crank nut was our issue, in the end some heat and a bar braced against the chassi rail and bounce it on the starter with the fuel cutoff disconnected. we used a cheap bugen kit off ebay to lock off the pump and the flywheel and a pice of cardboard to cover the rad rarther than dropping the coolent. Ahh the weekend, is spent m8st of Saturday morning cleaning off more underseal and found a few patches of surface rust underneath one thing id noticed was some surface rust under the body lifting points used in the factory and there is no way I'm spending all this time and leaving any grot I'm aware of. ![](http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/ad162/logicaluk/acclaim/frank/20170429_151405_zpsqfjopjlu.jpg) And shortly after this ![](http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/ad162/logicaluk/acclaim/frank/20170429_151522_zpsim8drpsf.jpg) Turned into that ![](http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/ad162/logicaluk/acclaim/frank/20170429_173250_zpsf2ufymck.jpg) Which is fun as its where the inner arch, bulkhead and floor pan meet up. So i patched up what i could, ![](http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/ad162/logicaluk/acclaim/frank/20170429_183336_001_zpscd2bgd3l.jpg) but i have no idea how to bend up a repair panel for the inner arch, so that will have to wait till i can have some assistance. I'm not sure if the wealder was having a bad day or me or just sh1t metal, but my welds looked like curse word. But never mind as nearly all the underseal is off an i can almost see paint on the horizon. Dan

About 3 weeks ago i finally bit the bullet and ordered my new shocks i had hoped they would turn up before i left for long over due trip to see my dad in florida, but alas it wasnt to be, they turned up the day after i left. They are very nice and i like them quita alot. ![](http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/ad162/logicaluk/acclaim/frank/20170421_182637_zpsa2x9proq.jpg) I also found my mate barry had been winning things on ebay... this time it was an abandoned landrover discovery parts car and was sitting outside my workshop almost completely stripped, barry finished the job off whilst i was at work and by the time i had got home had ginger my old acclaim suspended by a lifing strap and an engine hoist over the chassi so a couple of hours work and the next project moved from daft idea to think we need to find an engine. ![](http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/ad162/logicaluk/acclaim/20170423_193025_zpsruaxfeav.jpg) Today i got back on with frank and got him rolled over on his side ![](http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/ad162/logicaluk/acclaim/frank/20170425_210203_zpssjotppsl.jpg) I could have sworn id stripped off more underseal than that, ah well only 1 thing for it out with the hot air gun and scrapers, so today ive got most of the rear wheel arch cleaned off which is the most difficult area. Its mainly fairly flat panels to do after that. ![](http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/ad162/logicaluk/acclaim/frank/20170425_210131_zps06bfbs2t.jpg) Dan

The pin stuck in the socket has been pushed in too far, just pull it forward so it touches again when you are plugged in!!! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) Keep at it, must be nearly solid now! I had hoped to have frank rolled over and the last bits of welding finished so i could fabracobble the rear anti roll barmounts, and be prepping the underside for paint but.. Its been 1 step forwards 3 back, Saturday i ran out of welding gas, 2 hrs after the wealding gas shop closed. Tuesday afterreplacing the bottle i thort ill just finish up the strut turrets get the engine bay finished and its ready to turn around, then i can start on the last bits on that side before the neabours get home and i can get some help to roll him over. First one of the angle grinders refused to work checked the brushed were fine, went to check the fuse and spotted the problem. ![](http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/ad162/logicaluk/acclaim/frank/20170405_113301_zpspiy2rfjh.jpg) Then the mig hab an identity crisis and thort it was a plasma cutter. ![](http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/ad162/logicaluk/acclaim/frank/20170405_132836_zpsvth5hokb.jpg) So that had to be cut out and along with that tiny pin hole above it and replaced them found the same one the other side just smaller. ![](http://i932.photobucket.com/albums/ad162/logicaluk/acclaim/frank/20170405_162639_zpshbq9mrj5.jpg) By that stage of the game id had enough and walked away. Sorry - never made this clear - will be in the region of about £3k, and because Mrs B (who hasn't passed her test yet and is almost 40) will be driving it, it essentially rules out anything super hot such as Scoobies, Alfa V6s and anything above about 200 horses really. It's more to get an idea of what is in the market than anything else as I will only consider a change once a) funds are available and b) I know what I am looking for. I am probably narrowing it down about half a dozen cars but am always open to suggestions. Thanks to all for your input. It's been rather helpful If its not to late id look at an ep2 1.6 sport civic, cheap, quick enough to be a laugh on the twisty bits with out a huge insurance bill and most important HONDA reliable. Dan
