First test of load cell from a jewellery scale. Seems to work pretty well, although the position of the wheels on the pad is critical. A couple of small blocks will locate the car side to side. Fore and aft movement will be controlled by a welding rod attached to the rear bumper and to a vertically mounted load cell for measuring drag. The original scale pad wasn't quite wide enough so I had to make a new one. Very much looking forward to seeing how this works out.....although I fully expect you will have a Mk2 version with moving road in the future! Have a good Christmas.

The Canal Bridge has had the tent removed and it is revealed in it's newly painted glory (Lattice girders to follow in the New Year) .....and it was Fish, chips and peas in the Brake Van today!

Impressive work Robert....I'm sure it "will be sufficient power to get you to the shops" now! It does look like an animal bucking on those rollers...

Not only does the engine have tinsel...it is also lit up, together with the carriages, for the "Winter Wonderlights" evening trains. The stations are also lit up, so it is a real spectacle which is proving very popular.

Hi Ian I don't know the codes, but I think it was a red oxide gloss and cream(magnolia?)gloss... but I will see if there are labels on the tins in the cupboard on my next visit.

As the brake van has arrived in Quorn yard I was able to pop along and tidy up. As it was a cold but sunny day I had a picnic!

I have cut up a bit of rubber tube and had a quick trial fit and it all looks good for the radiator bottom connection.

That shim possibly got rotated by the bearing then got chewed as it went into that slot - I would check that the outer bearing housing is not too loose in the gearbox casing and then use a sort of "locktite" when putting the bearing back next time.

Good progress Adam, that shim looks as though it bears against the outer section of the input shaft ball bearing race, the circlip stops it going into the box and the shim stops it working out to the front cover....?

More fixing work on the panels inside, next I will be working to fill the gaps and spaces. I have also tried the seats again and they are just too big, so if anybody wants to buy a pair of light Lotus high back seats post/PM on here. There is a picture of the seats on P 18 (6th June 2016)

here is a picture to prove it... As if we'd ever doubt you! Thanks for your faith George..... In other news I have been working inside the car to actually get the interior panels attached, as they have been stacked around the garage for too long!
