Our Windcutter team have also been busy, as we found a pair of suitable wheelsets to replace our "Thin Tyre" ones. True, they were attached to an old Steam Heat Van that was to be scrapped..... It was delivered yesterday.

Meanwhile despite Thornbury Castle being on the "back burner" this year, they have lifted the boiler off, removed the driving wheels and done lots of smaller jobs!

Well our Canal Bridge is just about finished as the lattice girders were put in place last week. That was delayed due to storms in Jan, Feb and lockdown since then.

Glad that the home front is coming good, sad that the railway is going back to front!

This is the back of the XJ-S instrument cluster. Unfortunately there is no live or earth connection in that multipin plug, so I'm going to see if I can solder to the copper strip in the plastic circuit board.....and cross connect.

Thanks Sierra....I did say right at the start it was to be more of a garage candy type project, well it has been in 3 garages so far, one house move, one job change and in the background for several other projects.....but yes I will keep chipping away! It is interesting/encouraging to get other people's comments on here too.

I don't think that is the Custom Car project Avenger. I think the CC one had a roof chop and a more subtle style... not that we should hi-jack this BL thread!

This has been a fascinating thread to read, many thanks for all your posts with their insights into materials, processes and results. So good to see that we still have outstanding engineers.

Oop t'top field to do a bit of bracken bashing with my trusty bodyguard. He's there to stop me being mugged by the sheep, the Guinea Fowl or in extremis, a gang of hooligan bunnies Hi Ian I didn't realise that tractors needed wheelie bars.....but then I thought...yours may well be needed!

IIRC there were 3 BL vehicles built of different styles, all built at the same time, the Sherpa, Princess, and, possibly a TR7. or it could have been a Marina Pickup, BL, bless them ,were generous with their sponsored cars, I think they had a big input, and seem to remember big input in how they turned out, I think there may have even been a "dispute" with the final look of one of the vehicles, and caused one of them to be very late in being finished, CC did however maintain from almost day 1, a build policy with a chopped and channeled Hillman Avenger, ford pops which were somehow used as giveaways at the NSRA Nationals I followed the build of that Avenger, I believe Chrysler donated it to CC but then, when it was finished, they were really cross because it was no longer recognisable as an Avenger!

Impressive progress - as ever! It does make our(my) efforts pale into insignificance.....

I've got quite a few working lights at the front now! Despite losing an earth connection, stripping a bit of the loom to find it, then discovering - eventually that, despite it looking and feeling connected - it wasn't.... Then I found a fuse box with the headlamp relays so I will try to use that as well. It still needs to be tidied up. I also had an investigation of my XJ-S instruments (last seen in 2016!) and they now have internal lights and a bit of action.

Hold on to your hats! I've spent some more money.....yes, I realised that the wiring should really go to some working lights and so I have bought some new side/flasher light units and they arrived today. it seemed a shame to leave them in their plastic bags....

Back to electrics and I have started with the easy bit first - just laying the wires around to the front lights. As I want to be able to remove the complete front end all the wires will go through an 8 pin connector block. Once it is finalised I will wrap it in tape.

I've got brakes!....all round! Well probably, as I now have a firm brake pedal with lots of travel left, so until I get it out of the garage and rolling, I won't know how good it is.

The other brake parts arrived yesterday and so I fitted them today and I now have a fully piped system, but I now need some more fluid to finish off the brake bleeding process. Still, it is progress.
