The Black wagon is finished so the Ops Dept have been to Swithland and saw this one... So brought it to Rothley and we started by cleaning out the tree! It has a double skin, which means it was used by ICI for transporting Soda Ash We are seeing which sections of the outer skin need to be replaced.

Robert - your capacity to take on just about any challenge is humbling!...but do take time to relax, sit back with a glass of vino...and enjoy what you have achieved. Your body needs it!

Wagon #16 was still at Rothley so I went along to Quorn and found my brakevan in the yard....It needed airing so I had to have a fire...and GCR brunch!

You youngster...no wonder you are still working so hard! I see that Kev Jenkins has his Mk 1 Escort (Fraudster) in the low 7's at 180mph - but he is using a Vauxhall Red Top engine(?) with a huge turbo.

Glad that you are helping to keep the Swanage Railway solvent Ian...and the Grandchildren suitably informed! We have nearly finished wagon #16 having bolted on the side door and put more patch plates in on the floor and fixed end.

Hi Ian Well you do have the Swanage Railway local to you and I'm sure they would welcome your skills! (Not sure about a turbine powered Bulleid Pacific though?). My XJ600 went to a new owner on Saturday so I am now motorbikeless.

The Windcutters were out together with my brakevan and a deliberately dirty 9F for the "Railway at Work" gala.

Our wagon #16 is very nearly finished with only 3 small steel strips to go onto the floor and end. The vacuum pipe has been fitted but still needs its hoses.

There is a lot to see this weekend with the "Railways at Work" event. Seven locomotives are moving around Lbro before 9.30! With the return to service of Witherslack Hall, 4 other steam locomotives, 3 diesels and a DMU. Four passenger rakes, two "Pick Up goods rakes and the Windcutters (16T minerals), on both days, means it is an intensive timetable ( latest version now on the GCR website). Lots of live parcels loading and unloading etc. to show how the railways served customers in the 50/60's.

More progress on the 16T wagon has seen the buffers refitted, drawhook replaced and screw coupling installed. ....and the XJ600 passed its mot and is up for sale with one offer already, so my "Two wheel and 600cc" adventure will be coming to an end.

The headstock repair was finished last week together with more bodywork patching. I did get a bit distracted getting my XJ 600 up and running to go for it's MoT....slight problem with the brakes though means the retest is on Thursday...
