Well not really been updating this much have I! So have been tinkering away, but progress has been a bit slow, but looks like things are about to come together pretty quickly now. Have been held up by the fact that the flywheel needed machining - hadn't realised but seems that the DOHC motor needs a long input shaft because of the depth of the flyweel - two ways around this with a type 9 box, use a diesel gearbox or have the huge flywheel machined down a bit - I've gone for the latter and should be picking the flywheel back up tomorrow. Sadly that's meant it's not quite the low cost conversion I was hoping, but should be more than worth it (plus you wouldn't believe how much I got for the old crossflow). Now for things with photos. Have modified the auxiliary drive to remove the PAS pump so it's now just running the alternator and water pump with tension being done be the alternator. Have swapped the mid exhaust silencer to a larger one that should flow better - the old one seemed to be restricting the 1600 a fair bit, so it'd never have stood up to the flow of the 2 litre. It's all welded up and fitted now. Have stolen the injection tank from the 2.8i that's in the corner of the unit (have other engine/fueling plans there ) was a bit rusty when I started: and after a little elbow grease - I've had to patch up a couple of small holes where the pump fits (tipical Ford and their water traps!) so fingures crossed that holds ok.... And finally I've knocked up some engine side mount brackets, so hopefully I'll get the motor in and some mounts knocked up next week

I brought a set of Circle Racing Wheels (very similar to Basset) home in my baggage allowance from the US for my Capri. Got my hotel to agree to receive a 'small' package for me, then got Summit racing to send them there. Picked em up, got a lot of tape from Harbor Freight to wrap them together in pairs and then ferried them back to the UK - all surprisingly easy. Now you just need a reason to go to the US (I got 'lucky' with a business trip ).

Ian this is brilliant - given me a right giggle to start the day with. No idea how you manage to juggle so many cars, I'd have got caught out well before they ended up on a drive together! But I've been thinking, surely the solution to the 11th commandment, is to own 3 of them instead?

Model: BMW e21 316 Year: 1976 Mileage: goodness knows MOT: erm, no. Pics: See below Location: Southam, Warwickshire Price: £600 Contact details: PM me Still clearing out after the move of units, and this has to go as I have neither the time or space for it sadly. It has been past between a few of us, all hoping to one day get round to it (FYI V5 is in my name), but I think it's about time it goes to someone who'll actually revive it as it deserves and it really is worth saving. Basically a 316 with a 323i engine fitted - I have to stress that it's in the hole, but has never been fully connected up or running in this car so can't vouch for it's condition. Project was started as a reshell of a 323i (long gone) that never really got that far - but it does mean it's worthy of restoring. The shell is actually surprisingly solid, with the rear arches (inner and outer) very good for an e21. The bonnet is a new old stock item, it's never been properly painted so there is a little surface rust starting, so needs some soon but I doubt you'll find a more solid example on a car except in the dessert. The sills aren't bad, but do need a couple of small patches (see photos). Otherwise it needs repairs to the front and rear valances, a couple of patches on the front inner wings and at least a nearside front wing. Has an Alpina front spoiler, but sadly this is far from good condition - it's a little warped, and has a crack that has been 'repaired' with zip ties. Would repair well with a little fiberglass and some tlc. Otherwise there is no interior to speak of as such, though the dash is there and ok. Comes with a set of alloy wheels - no idea if rare or not, and also the standard set of steels - safe to assume all tyres are well past safe road use! If you fancy coming to have a look, drop me a PM. And now for some photos:

Haha I was going to post a link to my Capri but appear to have been beaten to it! Sadly I've nothing more to add, other than it's pretty easy to do, making a grill to match is probably the hardest bit, got loads of plastic that's great for making slats if anyone needs any

Prices with part description. if you're interested please give me a call/text on 07860 274834. PM if you perfer but can be a bit slow to check that so won't guarantee you first place in line should anything be popular! Crossflow EngineFollowing change of direction engine wise, I have a nice spec Crossflow for sale – basically a stage 3. Last running on Sunday, and runs very well with good oil pressure. Oil changed more than it needed and having popped the sump off for photos it all looks very clean. Was rebuilt about 3-4000 miles ago, so it’s still pretty fresh. It does need a sump gasket thought, due to me popping it off for photos. Specs: - 711M Block, not had the head off but told a 1660cc by the guy I bought from - Very well ported and polished head on inlet and exhaust sides, with larger valves - Steel rocker posts and upgraded adjusters - Double valve springs - Duplex timing chain with Vernier gear - Piper BP270 Camshaft - Lightened flywheel - Balanced crank/pulley/flywheel set - Weight matched rods/pistons - High pressure oil pump - Type 9 fitment clutch (less than 2000miles old) Going to say £650 for this, as I know it’s ready to bolt in (baring the sump gasket) and know it’d cost a lot more to build to the same spec from new parts. I am open to near offers though, collection only due to weight – happy to help with loading. Having a clear up of all my Crossflow related parts as well, again open to offers. Will post, just ask for a price: Crossflow fit Bosch electronic ECU, with lead. Clean part with no nasty play. Plumbs in very easily and works great, nice reliability upgrade from a standard dizzy. Not sure how much these are worth - £50? Peco twin 40/45 inlet manifold for sale, this is ported to match a ported head and then polished. Very nice part, fits Escort engine bay with stubby trumpets. Say £50? ITG sausage filter back plate, crossflow fitment (matches the manifold above). Fixing clips missing, so say £10? Formula Ford equal length exhaust manifold. Nice part this, picked it up to use as a basis of an exhaust that never happened. Goodness knows what it’s worth - £50? 4 into 1 Crossflow exhaust manifold. Sadly this one split around the collector. Has been welded back up to a decent standard, but cheap because of that - £10? 32DGAV Carb, think this is the Mk1 Mexico type carb on Crossflow manifold. Was jetted for an old 1600 Stage 1 I had, and the cold start mech actually works correctly as well! £40? K&N for twin chock weber downdraft (DGAV etc.) £15?

Ouch, dynos can be scary things when it all goes wrong.
Once lit up the tyres on a in-ground dyno due to being a little over enthusiastic with the throttle on something with a silly torque V8. Needless to say the fore/aft straps don't work too well when you go sideways!
Strangest feeling realising you're trying to opposite lock whilst sat inside a room....

Longish term I guess is the best way to put it. To be honest we'll see how this drives and if it's doing ok mpg and is pulling well enough it'll probably be there a while.

Capri in non V6/V8 engine upgrade shocker! I know, making a sensible Capri seems somehow wrong doesn't it! Well after a couple of hours spannering we've got the engine out Heck of a large hole to fill! In other news I've liberated what I hope are the missing bits from a scrap Granada, so hopefully I've got everything I need to make it run now. Fingers crossed. Now to try and get the new engine in, how hard can that be?!

I could be extremely wrong, that looks like an M40 BMW engine rather than M10. See now that's what I thought it was to start with, but my resident BMW expert convinced me otherwise, will have to look into it! Cheers
