I'm gonna get in quick but i'm going to bagsy the 2nd run up prescott hill with you next year, the first going to your missus naturally.
Very impressed with everything you've done, I've only missed a few posts and you've done so much..you should feel properly pleased with yourself like a pig in poo! I'm now going to get myself off of the settee and into the garage tomorrow night and get my beastie running again.
Cheers to you for the devotion to your motor - motivation - just what i needed. I feel like a drive to worcester is on the cards just to shake your hand.

What a wasted day today has been, I set it aside to do my rear brakes and fit the electronic ignition kit and investigate a front end wobble on the steering.
Well the electronic kit has taken all day and I can't get the frigging car to show any sign of firing.
I marked TDC, I marked the caps position and even the position of the dizzy base so I had a starting point.
So curse word off, I think I'm going to go back to points once I've bought a new set and rotor arm,

Cheers Matty Don't get me wrong, i'm not daft enough not to expect some surprises when Retropower start media blasting it Am thinking of losing the chrome trim round the windows, it's a bit weak under there, thinking of a black n yellow scheme along the lines of the Chevy powered limited edition. we'll see though

So that's it for a bit, might see what I can get done this week as I'm at a loose end.Famous last words....ended up having the mother of all viral chest infections for 5 weeks, which has been on n off since. So having the lung capacity of a sparrow pretty much put paid to any tinkering. What I did get done was to check out my rear brakes last weekend, they are almost down to the rivets, all the clevis pins in the handbrake assembly are ok but their holes are oval. So I may not need my hand brake cables after all lol. (spares bin it is) I ordered new rear shoes which have arrived, so hopefully after this weekend I can start working on the car. Regular use in the torrential down pours we've had has highlighted water ingress from the bulkhead/windscreen area but having had the carpets up the car has a totally solid floor pan which was a pleasant surprise. The bitumen (I think) topper to the sound deadening is capturing all the water superbly. (along with all the dog towels I've pressed into service, nowhere near as leaky as my old mr2 t top) The car has performed faultlessly throughout the bad weather, The fan clears the windscreen and lo n behold all the lines of the rear window heater work! those two facts blew me away completely the first misty morning we had. I do plan on getting the car totally restored by retropower in a couple of years (maybe sooner) so am not particularly bothered by water ingress or rust issues at present as long as the car gets through it's MOT. I'm sourcing parts as best as I can for then, however at the moment we are just enjoying the car as it is. With that in mind the plan is to take it to the Footman James car restoration show this weekend in Shepton Mallet, so maybe see a few of you there? Who says you can't use a classic everyday lol, still can't get over the couple in the BMW filming me on my way to work with their smartphone on the M5, or the chap driving along taking photo's via his rear view mirror, in the middle lane mind you! That's me for a bit, Ciao

I'm running 175 65 13 avon zt5's about £47 a corner. To be honest the speedo has become obsolete above 60. It's about 5mph over upto that point and then gets worse.
I suppose I should have gone for 185's for a 7" rim but the cost was a bit more than I wanted to pay, plus they may have scrubbed.

Looking very nice there Brocky. How much lower than stock is it and do the corsa springs lower the rear too? Very tempted to do this to mine now.

No progress so far this month with fitting the magnetic points replacement system that Leigh ( BigWallace) recommended, will do this once the exhaust is fixed. We did attend the Queens Square car meet in Bristol and managed to get to the Diner meet up as well, with only a slight incident with a metal speed bump, the same one that caught Mystery Machine's gorgeous Daimler. As my car was already blowing a bit anyway I hadn't noticed that the speed bump had pulled the front pipe further back and down until travelling down the country lanes to a friends house. Needless to say after hitting it rather hard on the CROWN of the road, I pretty much lost any power the old girl was mustering. So waiting on some gaskets from that much loved auction site, then it'll be a trip to Longlife for an entire new stainless system from manifold back. Whilst trying to feel around the exhaust with the engine running my hand located a melted HT lead, you've never seen me move so fast, damn near crapped my pants. (funny as hell and really quite shocking) Oh I did manage to get rid of that horrible wing mirror, fitting a Bullet racing style one, it only took 3.5 hrs mainly due to lack of space, a screaming child, being old and suffering cramp far too often.Think I'll leave doing the passenger side until I get bored sometime.
Jobs left to do then in no particular order:- Handbrake cables - sourced but still not fitted, will wait until the current one is utterly useless.Water pipes - will wait until I get a fibreglass bulkhead cover see below.Bulk head panel rust proof and repaint.. as above.Replace door mirrors when they finally turn up from ebayTracking Replace dizzy with optical unit - anyone suggest a brand here? Ok, it's arrived I'm just lazy/waiting on the exhaust.Find a gear stick boot & remember to glue the gear knob on!! No idea what to do here, might try a chevette replacement.Fix tripometer Fix fuel sender as guess work is getting tedious.. So that's it for a bit, might see what I can get done this week as I'm at a loose end.

A good turnout at queens square, a vast array of cars including 8en's rather clean nova. Was great to meet Bruce and the guys at the diner who opened up a little earlier to let our 5 month old have somewhere cosy to feed.
So thanks for organising this one Bruce, hope the Daimler is an easy fix, although it'd be a shame to mute the beast now.

If you vinyl wrapped it, you could have the colour scheme you fancy whilst keeping the paint underneath protected
