First thing that springs to mind is The Who takes me back to Sundays in a Maxi with dad. I think the tape must have been stuck in the player because I honestly cant remember any other music that clearly being played in the Maxi. I can remember the exact moment, also in a Maxi, that I heared the Orbs Little fluffy clouds for the first time, at about 7am on a freezing cold morning whilst waiting to get into an autojumble. Further back than that when dad had his wolseley I can remember he had a tape that had a pic of a jukebox on it, and all I can remember is an unmistakable 'Chhee-eeeee-eeeee-eeeery baby' I get genuine flashbacks when I hear it now.
When I passed my test it was happy hardcore and Jungle in the Mini. Made me drive like a tit. Still does.

Awesome webbers and turbos and lumpy cams and noisy exhausts make me tick. My daily doesnt make me tick. Its near silent. If my Cube was Electric powered I wouldnt feel any differently about it, and I really like the idea of electric conversions in classic since I saw a feature on a Citroen DS and it made it all make sense. Cars with crazy engines will always exist for fun, but gradualy i can see the numbers of fossil fuel cars going down and down, say over the next ten years, but by that point I don't think we will be talking about electric cars, I cant help but think that something else will come along that will make electric power seem antiquated.

My interest in cars is as per this forum, more pre 80's than pre 2000's but due to only having one car I have no choice but to have a modern, its certainly not a 'normal' modern, but its modern in my view. Having said that Ive got the same enthusiasm for it as any other classic ive had. I know that doesnt make it retro, which is why ive never done a thread in readers rides for it, it just didnt seem right, but if I can make it relevant to a post in the general board, I have. Mabie I shouldnt? Its a 2011 car after all. So is it boarderline but interesting enough to slip through the net, or just modern? And have a proper car just to make me feel better.

I thought TH's always had the 'TH' logo on them somewhere, and were usually a metallic or somehow flashy version of a mainline car. Ive only got one TH, its a gold 'Soo fast'. I don't really like it, but it was cheap. There has been several times ive been tempted to drill it and nick the wheels for something else. Would that be wrong?

I just found this vid on youtube. The standout for me is the Cube with the conventional rear window. Great choice of mods and a nice colour too.

Oer, a mark 1 TT project. Thanks for the tag grizz On the other end of the fun spectrum, I love this look with how this two tone is done - classic beetle style wedged between the curves. The curves & lines are what make the TT.1 such a great looking car to me. I hant thought about the 2tone on these audis until you said that. The body lines certainly lend themselves to it.

When you first said you were going to polish the canopy, I thought it might look a bit OTT. I was wrong. If the ribs need to be black, the first pic with a brown canopy would be my vote, it might lend itself better to the orange vinyls if you decide to go down that route. What youve done so far has bee spot on, so I'm sure that whatever you decide will be the right move.

I do like that Morrari, I think its the wires that makes it. Somewhere within this bodykit is a......... Triumph Herald.

Ive always thought these need lows and wheels wide enough to justify the arches. Other than that they're a better choice than a normal 25, better bumpers and has this got the recaros? I like it anyway.

how dare you... a lot of those cars (Monaro, Cortina, Capri, SD1) are from New Zealand. So tempted to call you a bunch Frenchman right now (which I might add is a lot closer geographically than Australia and NZ). Do love a good sports sedan, also known as OSCA (Open Saloon Car Association) or GTRNZ in the better of the Australasian countires. Sorry about that, assumption being the mother and all that, I just didnt take New Zealand into account. Perhaps it would be easier to open the thread up to all wide body saloon racers, that way we can include more awesome, like Cortina from somewhere, UK? Hilman Imp Silhouette racer

Thanks for the links Mark, I thought there had been threads before but I couldnt find anything. It was only after watching some of the older racing on youtube whilst looking for the wolseley that the bug bit and I started looking for more. I'll check out the Roaring Season when I get a chance.

In the last couple of weeks Ive been to 4 different shops that usually stock Hotwheels. One had 1x5pack and one single car, a toaster thing, the other 3 have only had silly fantasy stuff with bright orange wheels. I'm off out tomorrow and have 3 locations within spitting distance# of each other, so I shall see what I find there. Strangley its not really cars I'm looking for ATM, its wheels.
# I wont test the spitting distance thing, it will make my mask all soggy.

When I had my second car, a Mini Estate, I was leaving the local highstreet, going uphill and clearly forgot/didnt realise I was still in a 30 zone. As I reached the crest of the hill the police were doing speedchecks and pulled me over. It was long enough ago that I cant remember exactly what was said but he wasnt impressed, I had guilty written all over my face and could only apologize. He went all round my car checking the tyres and just looking all over it and then said he was just going to do a quick vehicle check. This is when he dropped the bombshell "You know this car hasnt got an MOT Sir? "Eh?" would have been the sort of reply given TBH Turns out the car was out of MOT by a week, I thought it was due in 3 weeks, I was a month out. With a smile on his face he said he could see it was a well cared for car and gave me a producer to get the car MOT'd asap. That was it. Nothing about the speeding bit. In situations like that a bit of everything helps, if id been driving a rusty pile of turd with an attitude to match I can imagine the outcome would have been quite abit different. The car wouldve looked something like this at the time.
