well.. no update on this for about a year. its just kinda plodded on , then sat in the road for the summer whilst i played with the celica and mazda. those two are now sorned for the winter so time to do something with this. plan was just to mot and replace the clutch- this has been slipping o almost a year now- i killed it at the last play day i went to. gradually got worse, now struggles to go over 30mph without slipping . , use it for getting firewood and other workhorse type stuff. not spend too much time or money so i can concentrate on me celica and get sorted for the gathering next year(this year was best car related day out ive ever had) failed mot on a few bits, and a bit of welding. only expense was a new exhaust, £70 from ebay so not too bad i guess. problem was i kinda wanted to celebrate it getting an mot by rewarding it with toys so accidently painted it again, just a roller job this time in nato green. 2.5l for £21 delivered ;D still got about 1/4 tin left too. that was gonna be it. i had a set of 8x15 wheels i bought last year and never did anything with them so was gonna swap my tyres over ...... then i got over excited, a mate had bought some new tyres for his surf- some silly sized 35's so was selling his old tyres, would have been rude not to today i intended to start on the clutch . bough the clutch before last xmas, its been on the landing since cos I'm lazy like that. made a start but kept thinkin about the tyres n wheel situation, so dug out the wheels and slapped some paint on them wanted to do something with them, cant afford vinyl wrap so opted for travellerwrap on the dish stuck the tape on and then warmed with a hairdryer ( received as a birthday present because i bought an mx5) couple of bubbles but come out ok with a bit of a squeeze ;D and car finished the day up on blocks peeing gearbox oil out, , got as far as removing the propshafts and gear levers , clutch/speedo cables. will try finish this week when I'm off tyres hopefully fitted this week, then a 2" bodyl ift "Because I'm worth it"

adapters would be the way to go, also I reckon if ya buy some and after a while change ya mind, you'd have a queue of people waiting to buy the adapters from ya with 4sx100 being so popular, and all the bestest wheels being 4x114so prob not lose too much on them. hope to get some myself so I can put the wheels from me celica onto my mx5 ;D also... your right, ma61 wheels would look spot on on a golf you need to make this happen ;D

i never met john, only ever read his posts on here, but a good friend of mine, Dan now owns the celica. was chatting with him on thursday night. this months Retro cars has a feature on the Celica and the Datsun 100a. the mag came out on thursday, i read it, finished work and logged onto RR, and read that John had died. same day his old car was featured in the mag i have this picture of the celica which i saved to my hard drive a few years back, it was taken by john, i think there was some sorta pnoy express thing going on with a set of police lights and he had put them on the celica for a quick pick. looks spot i reckon. RIP matey

i have me a couple. used to have a few spring air rifles when i was younger, like this few years back i got the urge again, but got a few co2 powered ones, mainly pistols anics skif great fun, holds 28 pellets in a mag, fires off fast as ya pull the trigger, no cocking the spring each time compact cp99 good fun for plinking with, fires a mag full off metall bbs drozd most fun out of any i reckon, fires metal bb, electric trigger so really light. ours are only single shots, but the us got the burst fire ones, 3 or 6 shots at selectable speeds too, up to 600 rpm i think have a diagram somewhere showing the difference- just one wire and a bit of solder. but that would be naughty and is frowned upon by the police crossman night stalker, this takes the bigger bottled, has a mag that holds 10 (iirc) 177 pellets, again fires quick as ya pull the trigger got a couple of airsoft guns, bought on a whim for no reason, bit daft really. good fun but only used in the house to shoot a few cans and then get drunk and take it in turns to shoot each other glock 18c, paid extra to get a metal slide, uprated return spring hi flow valves and a spare mag m11, with silencer good fun, though theyve all been boxed and put away again for the last 4 years!

i have a mx5 too, thought about selling but gonna keep for another year (again) did notice in the for sale section a few adds where people want to swap for an mx5, there was a swb shogun and also a beetle. how about maybe swapping your car for something easier to sell? bigger scene with the vw's might be easier to sell? snow on the way, ,more people might want a 4x4?
