Has the car market slowed down recently? I'm asking because when I bought my mazda I found it fairly hard to find one at the right price Now I'm having to sell it, it would seem I cant give it away. Is it just the wrong time of the year to be selling or is it something bigger then that? I keep getting ridiculous offers for it.. "600 quid mate, tek it or leave it, it aint worth owt else more" actual text! cheeky 'expletive' honest answers for an honest question would be appreciated payment for you all...

Have you read the news recently? Euro down the toilet, global recession, etc etc.

What car is it? If its an MX-5, at this time of year it probably is only worth £600. Wait till April and sell it then.

Yes things have slowwe down, top end stuff is still going for silly money, then again the rich get richer in a resetion. I get classic car weekly and a lot of the traders are not shifting stuff and quite a few of the private adds are labled 'reducing fleet'. My brother does vehicle retrimming and for the first time in years he hasn't got work.

i have a mx5 too, thought about selling but gonna keep for another year (again) did notice in the for sale section a few adds where people want to swap for an mx5, there was a swb shogun and also a beetle. how about maybe swapping your car for something easier to sell? bigger scene with the vw's might be easier to sell? snow on the way, ,more people might want a 4x4?

Moneys down insurance is up work is getting tighter to find and it's getting to be a pain to sell cars
There's no such thing as a cheap car anymore with scrap being more than what people will pay and insurance being twice what it was 2 years ago so more and more are either stopping driving or getting a car and sticking with it
2nd hand Market should prop up a little soon with all the people who were sucked into the scrappage scheame and bought cars they couldn't afford being taken back therefore making a Market for the cheaper stuff

Yes things have slowed down, top end stuff is still going for silly money, then again the rich get richer in a recession. +1 Nothing else to add. There's still a lot of folk with spare cash for new toys - but there's also a lot of folk struggling to pay for what they need never mind new stuff they would like to have

Thing is "hang on until the new year" may not help much, things still appear to be getting worse. Could be your £600 offer is only worth £400 come April...
I'm supposed to be selling the Cadillac, wish I'd got it done and sold in the summer as I don't know how the market for this kind of car will be over winter or in the new year...
I'm on £67 a week, once they get around to restarting my benefits. Currently we have a family of three living on £120 a week. Plenty of people in the same shithole as me who would once have been buying stuff, now just selling stuff...

yep people wont pay naff all for cars now. ive seen cars that I thought wouldnt hit sub £1k territory for years for £700 and struggling to sell my nissan only cost £200 and she'd been advertising it for months for £300. worth £300 all day long in my eyes as its a cracking car but people wont pay it, the only people interested were the banger boys who'd give her £50 so £200 was a result for her.

know the feeling! All i got was silly offers for which i'd sooner hang on to it for the £6 a week the garage costs. Plus it's not really what i need at the moment. It is the time of year where car sales slow. Plus there really is no one buying unless it's £300 with tax, test and half a tank of fuel Great if you're in the market to buy! Not so if you're selling

I work in nearly-new pricing for a major motor manufacturer and yes, things arent great at the moment. Book values do tend to go up in January (and the market does as well) so you may have more luck then.
