He's good too apparently! Failing that, give Gary a call at West Herts Customs down at Bourne End Mills. They do a good job for sensible prices on anything from Vespas to Lambos and anything interesting in between (Tell him I sent you )

I guess I'm just one of the few people that just don't like e types I was the same and absolutely hated the S1 roadster we rebuilt for a customer. 5 months of swearing Then I drove it. Within half a mile and one roundabout I 'got' E-types and suddenly understood what all the fuss was about ;D Since then I've worked on and driven several and would now give my left nut to own one!

if I remember right it has fuel injection etc, with all the sensors etc hidden, and made to look like a carb set up, that and 1001 other details There's a lot of hidden details on this. For example, where the hell are the brake lines? Perfect '32, wouldn't change a thing (except the name on the logbook ;D)

I've always been led to believe that a turbo on a diesel actually works as a very effective muffler. Certainly when we run diesels without exhausts they're never too loud but the turbo whistle is cool ;D. Seems it's quite a popular mod on diesel Mondeos and Focuses to replace the single box with straight pipe. Makes them breathe better too apparently. I will be giving it a go on my Focus, if it sounds pants I have a much better spare system to go on anyway

The one that always irked/interested me was the Post Office advert where a random street-parked car loses a door - the car appears to be a South African or Spanish Austin ADO 16 variation, so either an Austin Apache or an Authi. Such an odd car to appear in a British advert. Think you mean Seems a lot of companies film their adverts in South Africa for reasons I can't remember. Think the Levis Twisted MK1 Triumph and the new O2 Nissan 300C were as well. Something to do with lighting IIRC

How the hell do Alfaholics manage that? Every single car of theirs that I've seen has been absolutely stunning. Simple, but effective.

think the jeep might be an eagle rv kit. Nope, it's a real CJ7 ;D 4.2 though, not a V8, and almost certainly as rotten as a pear

My first ever car journey was in a SII split screen Traveller ;D It was my Dad's 'new' car and it brought me home from hospital. Don't really remember much about it TBH, it was nearly 40 years ago....... But, Dad was always fixing bits on it, including swapping the 803 for a 948. It finally disintegrated in about 1974, but when I learned to drive it was in a '66 2-door. Dad just thought it would be an ideal first car. Turns out that actually he was right!
My advice is the same as everybody elses really, get the best one you can afford. And remember, Tiff Needell famously learned to how to drift in Morris Minors on wet roundabouts. They are suprisingly fun to drive

I came face to face with one of these a few years back on the road between Gt. Missenden and the Prime Minister's Chequers country home. It was carrying some dude called Vladmir Putin....... His police outriders were very helpful, stopping ALL oncoming traffic. Not for security reasons, but because it's a narrow country road and these ZILs are about 9ft wide. Their styling department may only use rulers, but the end results are impressively huge!

Hang on! pOG reckons its worth a cup of cold pee Tragic reckons its worth a slice of toast I was unaware of the exchange rate of these 2 comodities and I cannot find any site comparing them. Basically, X300s are worth less than pork pies or Jaffa Cakes so lower denominations are more widely used in the purchase of such. Unfortunately, fluff from down the back of the sofa is NOT legal tender any more. Let's just say you can get a decent one with tax, test, history and a full compliment of wheel arches, even possibly a supercharger for waaay less than a grand. ;D Like this one

I'm pretty sure this isn't derelict... DVLA says it's taxed till December 2012, so I would suggest you're right. It's a Sapphire Blue 3.2 X300, worth around the same as a slice of toast. Epic value these things at the moment ;D. The wheels in the pic are probably worth more than the car! Yes, you should be impressed though, it's a Jag ;D. Edit: Must type faster......

Talk to David at Llama 4x4. He's been getting the 4x4 fraternity out of trouble for years, seems to be able to source wierd stuff and will make any brake hose for peanuts. He can also make custom handbrake cables too. Be prepared for a chat though...... ;D

These? www.bassettwheel.com/dot.htmlInteresting - will check the backspacing / offset. Btw, do you know of a UK supplier? A quick google hasn't turned up anything. They look almost identical to American Racing 767s. Loads of the Jeep guys in the UK are running them (myself included) and they are 5x4.5" You want 5X4.5" (5x114.3)? Jeep wheels

Wow, haven't seen that for about 20 years! It was tucked away in a workshop, covered in junk and the owner was adamant it would get rebuilt. I was building a V8 powered FD at the time (now long gone ) and worked with the owners son, he thought I might like a look at it. He was right ;D Seem to remember it still had the 327 in it then.

Came out after paying for my petrol at the weekend and wondered why the remote wouldn't unlock my Passat. Why do the local cabbies insist on using silver Passats just like mine?

Every couple of weeks there is a gathering between Oxford and Witney that always produces some random Retro goodness. It's a great day out for all the family, plenty of free parking and on site catering. It's called Standlake Arena ;D Sorry! Yes, it was rotten, yes it donated parts to the Granada Owners Club, and yes it was 10 years ago! Please don't hate me.....
