quite unlikely it'll be the end of anything, I recall most J imports back int he day had a 112 mph speed limiter. Fantastically amusing creeping past a mate in his Pulsar, in a 1.5 diesel pug 106 pegged on the governor

you won't want much longer gearing they don't spool up and pull low down like a modern diesel, peak torque isnt till 3k rpm

certainly would be looking into upgrading the charging system and batteries to something more modern and higher energy density, sounds like theres a lot if open source stuff with inverters and the like in the EV world.

the bit around the ignition Barrel is just an aerial, which parts you need depends on the arrangement, whether its an integrated cl and immobiliser or separate, unsure of the hondas of that era, but for a pug with i.r locking you need the chip ecu and immobiliser box, for the rf type you need the matching fob as well

crikey, with an 80 mile commute I'd definitely not be wanting to daily it.
tbh I'd be looking to move or change jobs!

if you actually want a camper don't compromise on its size, a lwb sprinter wont be that much worse than the smaller vans on fuel unless you have lead boots, as they aren't geared like cars!

T5 vans have much more complex engines over the T4, supposedly better mpg (don't know real world) also emissions (LOL) lots quieter inside and more electronic body systems.
hard to tell on the rust as they arent that old yet.
personally I'd go for a decent sized estate if its to be used daily, better mpg and convenience, also far cheaper than vans.

I wouldnt pinch oil cooler hoses, just bung the end and change it quickly.

there is a dmf, unless you get an auto, they arent known for failjng like most of the later fwd cars though.
they run a vp37 pump much like all the early tdi vw's, electronically controlled mechanical pump, fly by wire pedal, only thing to look for on them is pump seals leaking, a tenner for a seal kit and some faffing will fix it.
I'd be wary of any with tuning bodges, they can be chipped though, improved mpg in an auto as it didnt have to shift down to hold pace.
mpg from mine as a poorly auto was mid 30's commuting, will crack into the 50's on the motorway, hoping its improved now i have converted to manual.
the auto boxes arent the greatest, bmw stated they were sealed for life, zf say they certainly aren't, mine was playing up at 74k having been a london car for years, most get to 100k before playing up, so budget in an oil change andand filters if you get an auto.
the rest is typical E34 fare, avoid sunroofs if you can, the sills are more likely to rot on them.

oil pressure switch wont have any bearing on it running, so if its sounding rough then I'd definitely be getting an analogue test gauge on there, it might be buggered!

very common issue with the TD5's, psa had a similar thing to the corsa with the coolant sensor on certain engines/cars due to the same direct wire run from sensor to ecu.

its not going to be spark unless the dizzy cap is warped in some way, given the coil is triggered by the ecu via crank signal.
you have compression on all 4 so all i can think it being is carb related.
whatever map you use it will need checking on a rolling road, any aftermarket ecu even these days are a long way short of the computing power of a self correcting oem ecu.

there's no mot history coming up for it ao I'd be unsure if it still exists any more than on paper.
