Guys I need some advice, rear arch on my Astra has bubbled up and is coming off in a 50p sized area, being a white car it shows up really obviously. It's going to be my wedding car and whilst a weld in repair panel will happen at some point it's not going to be right now and I need to tidy this up temporarily so it doesn't bug me in pictures. What's the best way of tackling it? As a temp measure I was going to dig out what I can, use rust treatment (which one?) On what's left, bridge the hole (how?) And obviously work through grades of sandpaper to level off. Then as I cant paint the whole quarter how do you blend paint in? Luckily the mk3 rear arch has a straight edge on the wheel arch, but I always seem to end up with with a cloudy edge where I've painted up to? Sorry for all the questions, been let down twice and I'm at the point I've got to tackle it myself and soon.

I'll wade in, I got a 2007 Mondeo ST TDCi a few months back, it does the family work but with the slight drop I've given it on springs and shocks it's a proper fun car for a derv. And also cheap as chips. They have their problems but buy a cared for one, you should be fine. However if I had 3k, I'd be all over a v8 E39, my bro recently sold his 535i for 2k, ok the body was starting to get shabby and for a v8 it wasnt that powerful, but it made a lovely noise, handled well for a big bus and was a very nice place to sit.

My van already has the auto brakes, they're way too nervous, jam on way too eagerly which then makes you panic as its unexpected.

I've had 2 separate girlfriends with 2 different Ka's, both drove any other car like they were driving the queen, both in a Ka drove them flat out, I used to love borrowing them (read stealing them as they had fuel in and leaving them .one meant I got free petrol) even though they were wheezy 1.3's, they just felt like a go kart and you were doing a million doing 27. Both had succumbed to fuel filler rot, but one had a full length webasto roof which was brilliant in the summer. I'd quite happily have one as a daily, ideally a blue SportKa.

You're forgiven for they contain vehicular pretexts, however even if I bought one of those (which I would to hang in the garage) the mrs would point blank refuse to use it, to her a car is like a whisk, use it, wash it, that's it, not something to be accessorised

Went to HK in Ruabon on Sunday, as I wanted a few trim pieces and boot struts, 1 mk3 there, 1.4 3dr Merit in maroon, on a K plate, straight as they come with 85k but theyd trashed it with the forks, which is good really as I'd probably have brought it home with me. Anyway got me struts but the boot trim was broke the same way mine was. Luckily AndyB-Redtop messaged and yesterday went to see him and his Astra (very tidy) to pick up the trim. On the way back there was a horrendous squeal, and then it disappeared. Fast forward to today I take the kids to school in the Astra (there's more fuel in it than the Mondeo) and it rears its head again. The whole inside of the alternator was moving in and out about a half inch causing the fan to cut into the body of the alternator. CES wanted 145 plus vat so trailed up to HK again to relieve the poor merit of its alternator. All good now. So gave it a decent polish as it's starting to look really ropey lately, certainly better in pictures than in the flesh. ![](https://www.mk3oc.com/forum/media/20190321_174320-jpg.2114/full)

I have a new 68 plate Sprinter in work that stops for you if it thinks you aren't paying attention (And it's far too cautious) and beeps whenever you aren't perfectly between the white lines. Best thing for road safety is to stick a big spike where the airbag should be, wouldn't get people driving depending on the car to save them then. Standards of driving have become dire.
