astranaut surely failed master cylinder isn't fail to proceed, more failure NOT to.......😀 My Grandads wisdom, ‘theres only one thing worse than a car that wont go, and thats one that wont stop!’ I find this to be true......, Well it was a failure to stop followed by a failure to proceed as there would have been another failure to stop

My Astra, bought by my grandad as my previous cars were lasting weeks before exploding, with the explicit terms of I kill it I'm on my own... £350 car still owned 10 years on bought at 89k and now on 174k, its failed to proceed twice, once with a master cylinder fault, and once with an escaped diff. Both faults fixed for less than 50 a time. I've spent money improving it, but as a car I've owned since 18, ragging the out of, its been an utterly dependable little car. Moved into my first house (and a further 2) with it, brought both my children home from hospital in it, and used it as my wedding car earlier this year. Showing its age now so really needs to come off the road, but I know the daily will break and I'll have to depend on it again My grandad has also released me from said terms, and cant believe I still have it

I had a 2000 520i, most reliable car I've owned and I bought it at 198k, scrapped at 230k after splitting the tank running over something. Friend of mine has a 2010 320d, never ending array of problems with it. I'd happily have an e39 again, in fact I'm toying with selling the Mondeo ST in favour of one.

I used to store my 74 Beetle at my exes mums house, kept coming back to it unlocked, her little sister had been opening it with the end of a teaspoon to pretend she was driving it

My dad used to advertise his cars miles away so he didnt have to see them again, killed him when he saw what was a mint Sierra hed owned for 8 years drive past a year later looking like it had been dragged from a swamp. One reason I normally strip a few parts off and weigh them in.

That's impressive, he must have been doing a decent lick to cleave it in half. A few in work have been caught out but not to that extent

Absolutely nothing carwise, too cold and wet to be a roadside hero, and being a delivery driver this time of year is sapping all my good enthusiasm away with each passing day of overtime

Youd be surprised Grizz, I ran a set of wheels without spigot (they were in the post) and the wobble was horrendous above 50, helps centre the wheel I guess cos it went away with them fitted. See how you get on, nice wheels as well, left field choice there, should look good.

Mk1 Focus? Mk3 or mk4 Astra? Old enough to be becoming a rare sight (ok maybe not a mk4) but modern enough to have some safety features and not crumple.

In 2008 I had a 2.0 Sierra estate I'd done up over a couple of years, cheapest quote was 3500, so I swapped my grandad his Fiat Tipo 1.4 for 12 months. Good car, think it was 1200 to insure. Rare now though.

That's remarkably clean given the mileage, a lot cleaner than cars with half

I used ebay stuff, never did it before. Bought easily enough to do the whole car twice, by the time I got the hang of it i had just enough for the 2 back windows. Just fiddly and when I got it wrong I ripped it out and started again. Take your time and plenty of lube
