Well its not as bad as feared, seems to be contained to the rear of the inner sill and is imminently doable. He's been round pulling underseal off in suspect areas and just found surface rust so will be getting cleaned up and resealed. Quite happy about that. I'm not in a rush for it so he's doing it as and when. Already done a couple of brake pipes. Cleaned back to see the extent, hopefully chopped out today to be welded up again tomoro. It is 28 years old I suppose.

My 94 mk3 does this all the time after it's been stood, good run out and it clears until the next time I don't use it for a few weeks. Unless it runs like poo or loses water don't worry about it ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Well that went well... It's at the garage now, foglight was the bulb, windscreen washers were empty (I tested them this morning, but didn't check the level, I know) and the idle speed was an air leak. However the welding looks fairly involved, and given how many times this thing has already been welded, coupled with nearly all the solid lines needing doing, ive left it for him to price up and give me an honest opinion about how grotty it really is. I really like this car but if its getting really grotty it will have to be stripped, as I can't afford to have it all done properly, nor have I got the room or time to have a bash myself, lost my off road parking when we moved in with my grandad a few weeks back. So that's where we're at. Hopefully its localised, and I'll update tomoro. I'll also say its not had an advisory on the brake pipes before, so to fail on nearly all of them was a bit of a shock. I haven't really been under it this year to see them.

Deepest sympathies mate, lock the car away until you're ready, it will still be there. Take care 👍🏻

I've come into a mk2 Saxo as a bit of a side project, and after wheels for it. I'd like a set of scruffy Rallye steels to refurb if anyone has any? Or 1.6 GTi wheels, not the 15" ones. Let me know ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Astra never got that valet, day before I was supposed to start the Mrs was taken to hospital where she remained nearly 2 weeks, luckily all ok, started new job which has gone well, 4 on 4 off so plenty of time now, well there will be when we have finished moving house ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) not an experience I relish. Astra has earned its keep moving stuff, looks hanging as all the little paint chips have started bleeding rust, and it's generally grotty. MOT is due next week, so that time of year to put a standard exhaust on and hope for the best. I've told my guy that it needs to pass so any work it needs it will get, no off road parking now, and I'm not selling it after 13 years now ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) so hopefully a nice update next week, where its clean and polished and I've gotten handy with a bottle of tip-ex If anyone is breaking one of these btw, I need a clock, mine had a burst lcd.

On the flip side, a previous owner of my Mondeo contacted me after seeing a pic on Facebook, and was really pleased with what I'd done with it. Turns out the miles were put on it as it was an organ transplant delivery car, and went all over Europe. Got some cool pics of it in the Alps, damn things better travelled than I am ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) I'd say go for it, nothing to lose ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

To be fair after a youth wearing headphones crossed the road and walked straight into my stationary car I always let people cross now if I'm approaching, save being the "at fault" person.

Base model Sierra 1.6L 3 door. Dad had several when we were growing up, but this one was always there until he fell ill and sold it. He had an Rs500 as well but this had the memories, 2.0 pinto and 5 speed swap, off the clocks chasing my mums old Sapphire Cosworth as he'd sold it and given the fairly dodgy looking chap our house keys with it ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) I will get one one day.

I noticed that any sign writing/ business info on the van will increase premiums Really? I'd have thought that would have lowered it, especially if stolen when it practically a "return to if stolen" address on the side.

And myself, scored a GT Avalanche for 20 quid off BookFace before Xmas. Perfect size for me, and cheap enough that I'm not that bothered if I break it ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

Side skirts cover the base of the arch, wrap around it even, so can't be seen without removing them. Lot to be said for tigaseal, been on 10 years now ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

Wehay was checking in to see if it was a calendar post, still not had mine, think it's gone to my grandads ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) great work as usual, I thought it had all new arches when it got resprayed? Saying that, it's a working van, our roads are covered in plop and these aren't known for their awesome metallic properties. Other side had a arch repair, this side just got a patch where there was a bit of rust… but like you say, it’s used all year round and old vehicles, pre galv bodywork… I guess it’s not too unexpected I really need to take my side skirts off and check mine, been nearly 10 years ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) back of the sills is good, but I bet the wheel arch is toast underneath. Just too scared ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) especially the 2.7k I was quoted to put an arch repair panel in. Might try it myself since it's hidden by the skirt, I don't mind strong but hideous if it cant be seen, it will never be a minter ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

My brother (as usual) left his Xmas shopping until the last hour of Xmas eve, and said Smyths were restocking hence he found me a Sierra so I was there not long after they opened yesterday for a good look. Been ages since anywhere restocked with fresh stuff, got a fair few to be fair. Had to stash them cos the wife's going mad, I think my point of I can get 2 for the price of a cheap pint and not get a hangover stands though ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) While I remember, would anyone be interested in a custom commission? I want a Sierra done in standard white RS500 colours, maybe a cheeky wheel change if anyone is interested? I can supply thr car and obviously pay for the time, I'm useless at fine detail ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)
