If the surface area of the edge is the same on all valves, and so is the tension in the valve springs, and the diameter between the valves is different, then the sealing pressures on inlet and exhaust valves are different Not trying to be an ass, but I know from experience with motorcycles that it can have quite the effect on sealing pressures if you create a too big a surface area. Of course, it being a large, low revving, old Volvo engine it probably won't really hurt it, but it's good to keep it in mind. Grinding off the dull, pitted and black spotted surface is very good indeed (Y). I say and still do every critic/comment is always welcome since I'm not a mechanic and never done this before... I'm doing things as I think would be the best way, seeing some videos/foruns and upgarding my skills worldwide. And I don't want to spend loads of money when I can learn/do it my self. Then again thanks for the comments...

Are you sure the contact surface on the valves is not too big now? Be sure to check this against you service manual. It is important that the valves contact the head fully (according to your pictures they do, so that's good) but if the surface area is too big, with stock springs, you'll risk leaky valves at higher RPM. Also, whilst everything is out, you might want to look into having a 3 angle valve job, this would mean cutting a new contact surface on the valves under a specific angle to increase air flow. I don't need to make sure because the edge on every valve is almost the same on every one. I've done the grinding just a bit and not for long because they were a bit dull with some black spots and were leaking just a bit on some... I won't do the 3 angle valve job 'cos I'm not looking to build a race engine but just making this one a bit better... Later I'll do a head port matching to the inlet and ehxaust and just that. This car will sound awesome with the 3 solex and the ehxaust I'll build for it. This is going to be just a weekends/holidays car and only in sunny days...

good job! did you use the suckered twiddle-stick 'a la main' or 'a la electric drill'? I did it with an eletric drill that makes the job easier and way faster...

Thanks you all.... I didn't switched the heads yet, I've just tested the old head gasket from a kit that I won on ebay for 6€ a while back, and a complete set with valve steam seals, inlet/ehxaust gasket, valve cover gasket made of cork and some for the cd175 zenith carbs. I never had seen the head gasket for the B30 and I'm glad the this one fits/is really nice... I think that this one was made by Halls gaskets as mine came in a cardboard just like this but without any labels... Since it was starting to gain some surface rust I emmbeded it in engine oil and put it in a plastic bag ever since... Need to source a good used penta cam now 'cos I'm not looking for a new one... Don't know if the head gasket for the B30E is diferent but I don't think soo as this one fits straight on the B30E head...

Also I think squeal could possibly be from the actual e/m clutch when it engages I think the same and that clutch wont last very long at that rate of usage... But good test either way... It coming less and less funny and lots of impressive so keep it up!!!!!!

A small update... Make shift Spotwelder tested and awaiting some copper terminals. The new goddies has arrieved a while ago... It's a B30E head that was rebuilt not long ago but needs some atention. This will be a good upgrade since the B30A head has inlet valves of 42mm and the B30E has 44mm. When it goes on the motor with the triple Solex 44PAI it will make some serious power...LLLOOOLLL
Just missing the cam of the Volvo AQ170 and the ehxaust to be +/- 170Hp rather than the 136Hp of the original B30A... The B30E head is in pieces to be cleaned and treated well...

I think the best way would be to connect them in paralel of each other and a switch to disconects the supercharger on a fixxed rev range and a non return valve for the supercharge inlet. Just me saying...

Can you take a look on the VAG TSI system?!?! It would be a bit wiser just to see how they tackle that problem...

How many people with a Volvo that stopped counting the Km's in the odometer?!?! Since I have other 2 of this that really work I decided to check why it stoped working. Where is the reason of why it didn't work... My watch dog had died... So it was time to get a new one and a week later I bought this 8 Months old mut...

Turbeam you are right, is probably better to keep things simple, but I never learn anything new that way
That's what I thought... In that chain of thoughts it would be better to just buy a VW TSI engine and put it in the micra... Way faster and easy to do... I'm currently rewiring a CT9A Apexi Power FC to a 4G13 engine to be turbo charged and just because I want...

Found this on the web and I'll make one just for fun and because I can...
Welding sheet metal will become more easy and fun since it won't distort the sheet like the electrode welder. Stay tunned...
