Hi Jim
Sorry for the delay replying. I have one wheel that will need a refurb and tyre that is yours if you can collect/get collected. Will dig pics out later.

Jim,
Which wheels do you class as SE wheels? Is it the type fitted to series 2 Vanden Plas models? Probably have at least one of them spare in my shed if its any use?

Were these the ones that had a reputation for bending the front wishbones when they were kerbed hard? Yep I have had loads of Mk3 cavvys and at least 2 got put up kerbs bending the wishbone. Nice looking cav much better than the later version imho.

I would say go for it. You have already said you don't mind doing the work and are prepared to learn to weld.
One of my old Rovers was in a bad way when I got it and I have probably spent twice what the car is worth on repairs and its no where near finished. Cost isn't always a big factor some nutters like me see it as a hobby, a pure labour of love. Sure I could have bought one that was already roadworthy but where is the fun in that?

Looking great I remember cutting through a wiring loom on a customers car years ago when I worked for Charlie Browns, felt like a right donut because the customer was watching at the time. Took ages to repair

I now have a lot of want for an Austin The pace you have set for the repairs it will be on the road before you know it. My old man had one when I was about 11 (Years ago) which he had to always leave in gear cos his house was on a hill and the Austin had no handbrake that worked. Glad you have rescued this one and I have bookmarked it

A cracking motor you have there. I have been reading your posts on the Owners club site. Where did you get the door waist seals from? Was it Rimmers? I have a 2300s in Zircon Blue looks great when its polished up

Is there any way to find out the vin? I have just been offered a Rover I owned years ago however the gent used the part of the scuttle with a part of the vin on to repair his and has no paperwork( And no I don't mean to ring a car) I imagine the car is as good as scrap if the vin cant be identified.

That looks brill. I reckon the mk1 front end looks a million times better. Did it take much to attach it?

Love the MK1's. Very rare sight these days in any form. Last one I owned was an SR and it was that rotten the drivers door fell of ....loved it though.

Just read this from the start - fabulous work on a really good looking car. I remember not liking these when they were released on the basis I loved the SD1, but now, I love the clean, square cut lines. I had the same feelings about them with the old "Its not a proper Rover" but after owning a load of em they really are great cars especially with the 2.7 lump being blooming quick as they are. (And yes love SD1's I have 2 ) Even the old diesel versions are good motors and pull like trains. Think I will get one of these at some point to use as a daily

I have had all types of different gearboxes and in certain cars definitely has to be an manual such as the V8 Rover SD1 I had years ago. It was race tuned, was great fun and extremely quick and wouldn't have been the same with an auto. However I have had and still own SD1 6 cylinders and would only own an auto in them, cruising at 50-60 and hit the kick down makes a great noise puts a smile on my face.

Absolutely spot on with those wheels. I had a 2 door version about 17 years ago, same colour too but it was nowhere near this cool

This is one of the best looking SD1's around in my book. I think the louvre really finishes the look off to a T along with the vitesse spoiler. Does it still look like a FASD problem? I may have a spare in the shed. Mine is in a million bits at the minute too

I have had a few Escort vans and they all had rot along the sills. Easy enough to be honest and cheap for the panels.

These parts will really help and SD1 owner out. (Trust me I know I own 2 of them but lucky enough to own a huge stock pile of spares) Credit to you for being so generous If nobody on here can make use of them let me know and I will post an ad on the owners club.

This is cool I had one years ago with a Granada 2.8 in it. Mine had a Harvey frost crane on the back as we used it for a recovery truck for our scrap yard.
