OK, barring any major weather-related catastrophes, Sunday April 7th is a definite.
Because we've moved to a date after Easter, there are a couple of things to bear in mind:
1. There WILL be a local council Beach Warden on site. Anyone caught hooning will almost certainly face a visit from the Police.
2. The kiosk will be open at the beach entrance collecting parking charges. Unavoidable, given that the Summer Season is underway from April 1st. Last year it was £4 per car, but I've heard that it's either £4.50 or £5 this year.
I can't stress enough the importance of presenting a positive image for yourselves and your clubs with local council officials on site. The future of the Beach Party isn't in my hands. It's in yours. Don't let yourselves down.
Brian

Somebody got a bargain. Daddy Damaged has just bought one of these already wired/A-framed to tow behind his motorhome, I had a drive of it last week. What a hoot to pilot, just like a modern Mini, as you say....and SO nippy. ;D

looks like a ifor williams one. It is, my ol' man had an ex-works (I remember it was registered G***KHP) 504 pickup a decade or so back with the same top on. Had only got about 50k on it and drove beautifully. Those 2.3 Indenor diesels would pull a house down. He swapped it with a mate in return for having his bathroom tiled, I know who got the better deal out of that one. I went bananas when he told me.

Couple more pics, taken today. Front bumper (and the back one, come to that) needs a proper clean. When all this white stuff's gone I'll do those, at the same time I replace the number plates with some pressed steel ones. Black trim strip needs repainting where the spilled diesel has disintegrated it. Dead chuffed with it. Starts instantly even when it's freezing cold, no smoke, suspension comes up smartly, and in a couple of minutes it's nice and toasty inside. ;D

I think its the only sensible thing Brian tbh. We was going to come down yesterday and camp the weekend but after looking at the forecast theres no way we could do that. Postponing it til better weather would bring better numbers and be alot safer for travelling. I completely agree. And having just seen the updated forecast (basically this snow's set to continue throughout today, only stopping in the early hours of tomorrow) it's definite. CANCELLED.[/b]

We've been absolutely hammered with snow here overnight and it's still snowing, as it is up in the north west. I've just checked with the Met Office and it's now forecast to continue all day and part the way through tonight as well. I don't think it's fair on those people who were planning to travel from far away to the Beach Party to ask them to do so in conditions like this. THEREFORE I'M PROPOSING THAT WE POSTPONE BP7 UNTIL SUNDAY APRIL 7TH. Your thoughts are welcome, however the final decision is down to me and will be made by lunchtime today. Thanks. Brian

It's home. No pics yet as I drove through a biblical snowstorm on the way back and now it's chucking it down with rain, but it sat at 65-70 on the motorway no problem and now it's on my drive. ;D

It's a daily so it's staying exactly as it is.
Seller has another four BX's in his yard, including a Cat B 16V GTi which is about to donate its running gear to a mint-looking white poverty-spec (so some 200kg lighter) BX Leader. Should be a real Q-Car.

You can't say "That's it. No more tat. Ever" without saying "More Tat!" Nice one Brian I take it you'll be at the beach party in it? Yeah, that's the plan. I'm picking it up on Friday morning so aside from going to football in it on Saturday it'll be the first time I've driven any distance in it. Fingers crossed! ;D

Weather forecast's been updated, no longer any threat of snow, in fact it's looking dry, but very cold.
There's a rabbit-warren of car parks around the Maccy's/Wych Way Inn/motel, we'll be in the quietest one.
Except me, I'll be in Maccy's chowing down on a Breakfast Wrap. ;D

I said "That's it. No more tat. Ever". So why have I just bought this? '89 Citroen BX RD with the legendary 1905cc XUD9 diesel lump, GTi interior, Berlingo steelies, 175k but massive list of recently replaced parts (cambelt, waterpump, suspension spheres, yada yada) means it drives like it's done half that. Came with a couple of weeks' tax, MOT until mid-Feb 2014 and a near brand-new JVC CD player. For £350. I'm happy, wifey's distinctly underwhelmed. Meh. Picking it up on Friday morning, more pics then.

Not the cheapest, just the latest. '89 Citroen BX RD, 175k but just had cambelt/tensioner/waterpump/new discs/pads/suspension spheres/return pipes/exhaust. And MOT'd until next February. Full GTi interior, 175/65's on late Berlingo rims, near-new JVC CD player. £350. ;D Picking it up on Friday. Hopefully will be on the beach at Brean on Sunday.

Watching the weather forecast VERY carefully. Early indications suggest an unwelcome return to severe wintry conditions next weekend. Which is NOT good.
