I was there at the awards, and yes shelsley is where it's gonna be.... That's one heck of a hill, might have to run that differently to Prescott You're not wrong there. I used to go a lot back in the 1980's, Shelsley's incredibly fast but a very unforgiving mistress if you get it wrong......

It's been comfirmed. Tonight. At The Ace Cafe.
Midland Automobile Club only usually post their own events on their website, similarly Bugatti OC/Prescott never listed The Gathering on theirs.

Ford Endura-E engines might not be the most exciting things, but keep them fed/watered/serviced properly and they are bomb-proof, if it's running OK now then careful mainenance should see it past 150k without much bother. Then when you drain the old engine oil out of it, use it instead of Waxoyl/whatever. It's a messy job but works just as well, my ol' man's done that to his cars for years.
You've actually got pretty much the ideal car for your needs by the sound of it. Cheap to run, cheap to insure, cheap parts, scrappies are full of rotten ones so plenty of second-hand mechanical bits about. And they are great fun to drive. My wife bought a new one when they first came out in 1996 and put over 50k on it in three years without it ever letting her down.

Bought this back at the end of March, to tide me over for a few months. I'm still running it every day, but after 8000m in nine months it's properly at death's door now. No complaints from me though, espcially for the £350 I paid for it. Bought this at the beginning of December, this is how it looked when I went to view it: ....and here's how it looked yesterday, now taxed/MOT'd and insured, ready to be collected on Saturday. Considering how I'd said that this year I was pretty much done messing around with old cars.....

The Brighton Speed Trials are an important part of this country's rich motorsport heritage and must not be lost, whatever your political persuasion.
Signed.

Thanks Brian , I didn't realise Dyanes started that early That rear engined v6 looks like a bit of an animal What was yours like to drive lowered? Everyone says (on forums) turnes arms are a must. Mine drove really well lowered, even with my 19-stone bulk behind the wheel. Steering was a bit heavier, that's all. Any lower than that and you'd run into problems, though.

Like the steels a lot. The alloys were available in four-stud flavour, upmarket Capri II's had them (manufactured by Ronal, if my memory serves me well).

I must admit that at this year's Gathering I did notice a proliferation of yoofs festooned with tattoos and wearing snapbacks, either swaggering around with a kind of loping gait that reminded me of a pi**ed-up chimpanzee wearing a nappy full of porridge, or 'standing around attempting to look disaffected' (I nicked that line off Mr.Aston but it's so funny I don't care). I thought it was just me being a curmudgeonly old git. I'll just get on with enjoying me old car.

For me, this is the best build thread I've ever read on here.
I'm biased I know (it IS Gallic, after all) but I cannot wait to see this in the flesh.
