I'm sure there are many reasons why the 400's are the unloved Ferrari, but to me, they are very, very cool. I love the understated shape and in the flesh they have real presence. Probably the youngest Ferrari that has got real class.

Emdee - Do you know any website that sell 6x13 and 7x13 alleycats? Ebay or Wheel Whores. These wheels have been made for at least 30 years so there's a fair few out there. Pretty sure they would have been made in 4 x100.

Enjoyed a good long look at this today. Quite a machine and seemed to get a lot of positivity from everyone I saw. Being honest, and seeing that you are going to do another - I couldn't help feel that the wing mirrors are just too large. Do they really need to be that size?

I love this thread. I'd not really considered myself a big BMW fan until I went through these photos, so much quality. I've always thought this example was pretty special.....

Wow! I love it, your work is genius, really look forward to seeing this evolve. I would go for an original MM colour. My favourite colour combo and what I can see working well is a grey paint and dark red interior. I reckon birch grey and source some red leather MGF seats.

UPOL Gravitex sounds good. How many litres would I need to give a couple of coats by brush on the underside of a small/medium saloon?

Theoretically, a lower car could be more economical. It is doubtful that it could make as much difference as 5mpg though I'd have thought. It is also pretty complex, meaning some cars will see no benefit. It's not about reducing frontal area as much as reducing the amount of air travelling under the car, and therefore, reducing drag. It's pretty complex stuff however, and would be best to test on your own car to come to any conclusions. Lowering a car with a current very high ground clearance, such as a 4x4 can actually make matters worse, as more of the air can become 'trapped'. Making the underfloor of the car smoother, adding an undertray behind a front spoiler, fitting bonnet venting to allow under bonnet air to exit out of the top of the car, rather than beneath it, adjusting rake etc. have all been tested to have some effects. The main enemy of good mpg is weight and drag, so the detail just follows on from those factors. Lower it anyway if you like the look but don't expect big gains in mpg.

Great road trip, glad it worked out. The dealer sticker says Henlys. Not sure if there were many but there was a Jaguar dealer in Chester by that name while I was growing up.

I'd suggest looking on here on a regular basis - www.carandclassic.co.uk/How that lush Corolla is not retro, but an Integra is seems very weird to me..... To get any more responses, you might be best defining some of your criteria. Japan has produced a lot of cars.

I was there too and it didn't disappoint. I'm relieved that I didn't bother taking any pictures myself, your thread is brilliant. I think this a great example of how a forum or blog post can cover an event far better than a magazine. Thanks for putting in so much effort The D Type and Maserati were brilliant and beautiful, the F40 somewhat underwhelming on the strip, the Dodge jaw droppingly perfect, but for me the Renault Alpine was the nicest surprise. Compact and brutally quick, it showed that it's not all about the number of cc's you have. P.S. Hate to mention it, but the Lancia Fulvia is an Alfa...

Sounds like you have made a good start. The next step is to think about how rainwater is going to get into the car, interior, or inside doors, boot etc. Your screen rubbers need to be in as good nick as possible. Even if the rubber themselves are okay, check for gaps at the ends etc. Then check the boot seal, and bonnet seal etc.
I'm not convinced by car covers either, but I would be tempted in a half cover, that covers the glasshouse. You seal that off and you are just left with rainwater dripping down the bodywork which is far easier to manage than water getting in via other gaps.
