All the indicator lights on my Toyota are in a bad shape. Luckilly I managed to source a few nice ones for the side indicators, but the fronts are in a little better shape so I'd like to fix those myself. The glass is still good, only a bit dirty. Nothing a good clean and maybe a polish can't fix. The housing however is pretty rusty, and the rubber seal is completely dried out. Does anyone have tips on how I can make these look nice? I don't need factory finish, but I'd like them to be rustfree and at least a bit shiny, and most of all weatherproof. Here's a picture of what I'm working with:

Or just buy brand new ones. 40$ shipped for a complete pair....

Be easier just buying a new pair. Only way I can think to sort those is to clean and paint them, then line the inside with aluminium cooking foil.

How about trying electrolitic (think that's what its called) where you dunk it in a bath of washing soda and connect a battery charger. A possibility for reviving the rubber is have a search through diving/wetsuit type products or use a sheet of rubber and a Sharp knife and cut out some new ones. If the lamp holders are fubar you can straighten the ears around it and replace with better ones, if you want a better reflective surface, you can glue kitchen foil over the backing Ttfn Glenn

How about trying electrolitic Been thinking about that. Not sure if it'll work with this amount of rust though? I'll just order a new pair, and try to fix these as spares or something. I can use the glass from these to test my polishing skills, before I turn to the rear lights. Don't want to mess the rear lights up, those are super rare.

buy some cheap vinegar in bulk (I bought 6 bottles at about 30p each!) and dump it in there overnight. I was genuinely surprised at HOW well it worked! Converted all the rust to grey metal again! After that, rinse and dry, then prime, and paint Normal silver paint would work fine for the inside of an indicator. So... would you rather buy brand-new ones at $40, or spend $1 on some vinegar? Bilt hamber deox c will get rid of that rust no problem. I'd probably just prime and use chrome paint then
