My mums FTO up for sale. She's had this car around a year i think it is now. In that time shes had absolutely no problems with the car and its been perfect up until last week when the gearbox gear selection went intermittant. The car does drive but sometimes it doesnt always change up the gears it should, sometimes feels a bit grabby when taking off in first. I'm convinced its electrical as its too intermitant to be mechanical. We changed the oil and filter for top quality oil and an OEM mitsi filter. Brand new mitsi input sensor. Torque converter locks in fine so it is not the torque converter at fault. So this car is being sold as spares or repairs. It could be down to 1 little sensor or broken wire but we just don't have the time anymore we all work full time and mum has just bought another car anyway so the FTO is no longer required.
Mileage :[/u] 88,000(which was totally KM) Clocks were changed to 180mph clocks and speedo convertor fitted. These clocks show 159,000 but this is irrelevant. We still have the originals somewhere i believe
MOT :[/u] January 17th 2012
Tax :[/u] Expired end of Feb. Currently SORN
History :[/u] Old mots, receipts, dealer hand book and a few other bits and bobs. Along with 2 keys which is quite unusual for cars of this age to still have 2 original keys.
Interior:[/u]
All in great condition. No rips or damage to the seats no cracking on the dashboard etc. All electrical items work fine. The Tachometer(revs) is intermitant this could be linked to the gearbox problem, perhaps it doesnt know which gear to select due to engine speed not reaching the ecu.
Bodywork:[/u]
All in reasonable condition for the age of the car, no dents or scratches on the body. The front bumper is stone chipped but replacement bumpers are cheap and easy to find if it bothers you. There is some bubbling coming through on the roof but i am assured this is very very common on FTOs and not to be worried about. We was going to repair the bubbling and have the roof viynal wrapped. The rest of the car is absolutely rust free. Completely solid underneath no bubbling on the arches etc it is a very clean car. Stickers on the doors can be removed if this is not your thing.
Drivetrain & wheels:[/u]
The car has just had brand new brakes for the MOT, parts cost well over £150 new pads and groved and drilled brake discs from J specialist. Tyres are also all brand new and fitted at the same time. Only budgets but all grip the road fantastic have only covered approx 1000miles on these tyres so they are still as new. Wheels have some slight paint peel but are not all corroded and damage just a key up and paint would have them looking brand new in no time. As mentioned before the gearbox is currently intermitant. I really would recommend the car is towed or taken away on a trailer to save any headaches if drive stopped completely on the way home. Gearboxes pop up often and are not a big job for a competant mechanic really so you could have yourself a very nice sporty car for not a lot of money. Before the problem the car drove faultlessly. It was fast and handled superb!
Engine:[/u]
The engine is faultless. Recently serviced with new oil, filter, airfiler, spark plugs etc. Starts first flick of the key every time. As you probaby know it is the 2.0 24v V6 producing nearly 200bhp and in such a light car it is pretty damn quick and sounds absolutely fantastic because it has a FULL stainless steel exhaust system. It is the twin stagered tail pipe so no huge J cans which spoil the look of the car. Being stainless steel not only does it look and sound fantastic it will never need to be replaced. These engines are fantastic being only a 2.0 you still get all the great V6 characteristics but you get fantastic fuel economy when compared to much larger v6 engines.
I think thats pretty much all I can say about it? Its a fantastic car it just needs a little bit of love and attention to get it to its former glory. Or it could be broken for parts to make a profit the choice is of course yours.
I'm looking for £550ono[/u]. May consider swaps or PX for another vehicle that i could keep or sell on so try me with absolutely anything.
