My housemate had an unfortunate incident with her VW Samba yesterday...
She's been driving around in it since getting it on the road for RTTS. Yesterday she checked the oil and noticed it was low. "Must top it up" she thought (and then didn't )
Anyhoo, on her way back home the engine ground to a halt, and a quick check underneath revealed that the sump plug had come out and dumped all the oil. Engine seized.
So, obviously she needs a new lump (she's sourced one from a later Bay camper), but I was just wondering what the market is like for Splitty engine parts - I figure she could get some cash back by breaking her knackered engine... heads, carb, ancilleries...
I don't know much about aircooled dubs, but I reckon I owe her one after blowing up her Peugeot a few months ago ( ), so I might be fitting the new engine and hopefully getting her some cash back on the knackered lump.
BTW the engine was rebuilt about 12 months ago, so there should be some decent parts on it I reckon.
I don't know what engine it is (but it's one that would have originally been in the bus when new if that helps)
Here's a pic btw... hers is the red samba:
