I've got my hands dirty today and i feel so good!
The Polo that i bought from Peaches, and subsequently destroyed the engine of.... has a new engine! I got off my ass today, rented an engine hoist and in the space of about 5 hours lifted the old one out and dropped the new one in. this is a major thing for me, before i joined this forum I would even take my car to a garage for a service!
i would like to thank the people of this forum for giving me a 'can-do' attitude about cars in general, i'm far more likely to get my hands (and arms, face, buttcrack) dirty now and save myself a huge wad of cash! the sense of achievement too is pretty nice
left to do: fit inlet stuff (the old manifold has all the metal shavings still in it, not good idea to just bolt it back on!), check timing, check all bolts are tight, fill it with oil and water and fire it up! oh, and clear up the driveway and road where i forgot to drail the old engine before carting it over the road on a trolley.... big spills!
