1992 K reg Citroen AX GT in white.
MOT Feb 2012
109k miles from new.
Thick folder of history.
15" Compomotive five spoke wheels.
This is a very good example of the very last of the non-cat carb fed AX GTs.
Always starts first time and drives very well having had plenty of time and money thrown at it in the last year to bring it up to a good standard.
If you're looking at this ad, chances are you're already aware how highly regarded these were compared to the AX GTi that replaced it.
Also qualifies for classic insurance - I pay £174 a year, fully comp.
Recent work / parts:
* Front discs, pads and rear shoes replaced.
* Kumho tyres fitted to the front wheels and hardly any use since.
* Full Ashley Competition mild steel exhaust system (£170)
* Cambelt, tensioners and water pump replaced as part of a main service which included all filters / oil / plugs / leads / distributor cap etc.
* Ring Microline front driving lights fitted.
* Alloy catch tank fitted and plumbed in.
A small amount of rust was found on the inner wings and in the other usual AX rot spots earlier this year, as in under the rear lights and corners of the boot - this has all been attended to by a professional in the last few months.
The carb was removed, cleaned and then set up on a rolling road by a local tuning company within the last couple of months, and the car was producing a very healthy 91bhp at this time.
Currently fitted with a pair of Saxo VTR front seats, the originals also come with it if you wanted to put it back to standard.
Comes with a load of other spares as well, such as mirrors / lights etc, and the standard back box - this is fitted at the moment but the Ashley Competition back box is still included in the sale and can be swapped over in a matter of minutes.
I also have a front strut brace, 13" steel rims with tyres and front lowering springs for sale separately and would consider negotiating a deal that includes these.
Negative points:
* A few marks and scratches as you'd expect for a car this age - nothing major though.
* Almost certainly looks cleaner in the pictures than it does in the flesh, but very presentable all the same.
* Front bumper has obviously been replaced at some point and is a very slightly different shade of white to the rest of the car.
* Couple of bulbs gone on the dash, as is the norm with the AX
* Smells a little oily when sat in traffic due to a small weep of oil that sits on top of the inlet manifold - would benefit from a new rocker cover gasket.
* Comes without a radio.
* Could do with a new manifold to downpipe gasket - easy to change and easily accessible from under the bonnet.
* A couple of minor scratches on the rims and one wheel centre cap missing - not hard to find or dear to replace, but doesn't really notice anyway due to how deep set the rims are.
* I think I'd probably consider changing the engine mounts at some point in the future - they're not shot to bits, I just think it would benefit from having these changed.
All in all a decent example of an AX GT and it's doubtful you'll now find another as good as this for sensible money.
£795 FINAL PRICE DROP - £695- No PX or swaps, (other than maybe an MX5 or 500cc+ bike)
Located in Kent.
Can tax at the buyers expense.
