Totally crazy stuff, but it happens, trends - supply, demand etc etc. thats why i'm trying madly to collect my faves now! still see cheapie non turbo ones on trader etc for cheap, maybe the faster ones are shafted, still some bargains out there, keep asking my self why i didn't buy summat J n fasst.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

The curvy, post 92 RX-7s are great cars but are scary bad when (not if, when) something breaks. They run twin sequential turbos controlled by a series of vacuum lines which are rubber and which perish. Leaking line = no boost = feels like engine has died/is dying. Many problems with them are rectified by knowing what is wrong and fixing it, rather than rebuilding the engine. Unless you have a lot of time to spare and are highly competent OR have lots of money and access to an expert, stay away.
The Turbo II RX-7s are less complicated, and are more practical in that they're not tiny inside, but are prone to electrical gremlins. Parts should be cheaper than the post 92 RX-7s. This does not really say much. Did the UK get the atmo versions? They are "slow" but are much less complicated.
That said, IMO the 1st shape of RX-7 is a much better retro again. I ran one as a daily for 4 years. Faultlessly. Fuel economy was not special, though.
I love Mazdas. They're awesome. I love rotaries, which are even more awesome. But as a daily, you'll be wanting to spend top dollar and go in with your eyes well open to the down sides.
