Hi guys and gals I'm looking at getting a new set of wheels for the imp, and id like to go for 7" wide rims, now if i fitted 175/65/13's will that be really stretched or not? I only want a little bit! cheers J p.s. i tried using the search function as i know this subject has come up at some point, but every time i ask it to search anything more than 10 days it just spaks out

I think it would be alright J, I've seen 195's on 8 inch rims before which is what I'm going to do on the BMW, it does look well stretched but 175's on 7 inch rims will be 5mm less stretched.

those new rims i got are 7's and have 195'son and i thought they were 205's, 175's should give a bit of stretch, i'd imagine, if thats the look you are going for...

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

175/50/13's on 7x13's is quite common for Minis, so 65-series should be fine.

Here are my 185 50 Nankangs on 7" rims. £126 for four from mytyres.com. As you can see the rim edge sits proud of the tyre wall so I can't go near curbs but the stretch isn't too much and the bloke who fitted them didn't say a word. Charlie

I've had 185/70's on a 7X13 rim with no problems. 185/60X13 will give you the same rolling radius as the stock 155X12, and they'll go OK on a 7"rim, especially as an Imp's so light.

^ Hot wire That website/chart fingy is GREAT ! Agreed, just playing with it right now. Shows me that 175/60x14" is spot-on for replacing 145x13" on Starlet (a distinctly unstretched look on 5.5" rim according to the diagram it generates, which suits me fine).

Charlie Charlie - is your car in the readers ride section? It looks really nice Yet another example of the 'Minilite' style wheel looking good IMO Edit; just been playing with that tyre/wheel calculator - its ace! Though its worth noting that different makes of tyres of the same size can give different appearances depending on the tyre wall design.

The worst offender I found were India GT's , seemed to have very little tread relative to their width.
