Okay folks I'm just doing the final few bits on the CARS organising and I'm realising that I don't want to be doing this next year as it is a huge drain on my time, on top of everything else.
So I'm looking for someone to take over dealing with the events side of things. Someone who has time and dedication to do it.
I would like RR to attend more than just Retro Cars / CARS each year, but I just don't have the time to organise it.
It would be good if you can help people sort out local meets as well.
Any takers? Think seriously about if you have the time, skills and enthusiasm for it before you respond.

What you really need is a team, i.e. a Midlands, a North, a South etc....
And someone to watch over them...
Otherwise it's a hell of a lot for one person to do (as you well know).
Just a suggestion like..

HotWire,
I think you need to be clear about what you want. If you need someone to take the organisation of RR at CARS off your hands that sounds straightforward for one person to do.
If you have other events in mind, you should list them and give a rough idea of what's involved.
If you need someone to organise local meets for people, you ought to say how many you think this will be.
I think you should appoint a CARS rep, an events (not including CARS) rep, and a local events coordinator.
There is a lot of the CARS organisation that you can automate and a lot of your email traffic could be eliminated through introducing a set of clear instructions and a rigid process for people who want to attend.

Most shows seem to be down south for me, so i'd have one person liasing with you about the national major shows, then area reps if owts happening locally, small shows meets etc... I'd be happy to help out North West or poss Yorks but couldnt take on a job whole. no way

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

id be happy to chat to you a bit more about you want a rep to do, and consider sorting things for the south east/anglia. Ive spoken to Pogweasel in the past about us organising a meet down this way, and with me moving fairly close to him shortly maybe he'd consider us doing this together??

Okay, so a further thought then :
We need local reps for :
Scotland South East South West Wales West Midlands East Midlands(?) North West North East East Anglia
As well as an overall national rep.
Responsibilities for local reps: Organising local meets if one is requested Organising attendance to national shows for cars in the local area For major shows like CARS organising of numbers of tickets required and payment for those to be passed to National Rep
Responsibilities for national rep: Overall organising attendance to national shows through local reps.
As I said at the start I'm just floating this idea,.. so I'm still forming the concept of what people are going to be doing.

Next step; Retro-Rides as an organised Car club? Does that mean that the VW guys have to start hating the Ford guys and that the aircooled guys have to start despising the water cooled boys, and the oval window boys have to start ragging on the other guys.

Insurance always ask 'are you in a club?' Hmmmm (thinks yeah too right i am) reality, 'hmmm, no'! I'll need to join nasc to get roadsure insurance on the v8, but i'm not really in the club at the mo, at all. 'Clubs' are a bit sad IMO, - only cos of the general image, we are a group or retro enthusiasts though and were something like a club i suppose but cooler, always open to new people and passers by! back on topic, as you were...!

In my mind all we need is someone to arrange the stand/tickets/attendance at each show we want to attend. 1 person per show.
Where are we going to 'officialy attend' tho? CARS is the only show that can accomodate everyone without getting hassle imo. Are you talking about one make shows like bugjam and classic ford or smaller/more traditional shows like wheels day? Theres going to be people off this site going to nearly every show in the country i should think but theres no point in trying to oraginse something if theres only 5 people going as in most of the shows ive attended so far this year.
Each local meet needs a person that is responsible for orgonizing that. 1 person per meet.
If you want a meet in your area then organise one, nothing stopping you. simple
Theres no need to have someone overviewing the whole lot. They would either have nothing to do or would have to take on everything.

Good points slater. For me local weekly meets would be too much but a monthly one, or special occasions one would be ideal.
good point about the shows too, In the one marque events we could have a few people there if they wanted to. A great thing but it might also invert the open vibe of RR's everyone welcome All retro has potential general variety thing.
Edit: something like RTTS would be a good opportunity, but clashes with my Big BD party next year! ;D
Hmmm

How about a Southern Central? Ie Berkshire, Hampshire, Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and nearby? Would be easier than grouping them into South West or South East!
