it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Not really retro for some years yet, but I've always admired the Legacy GT-B Wagon. 280hp, twin turbo. Very discreet!

well now i know the pick ups were meant to have people sat in the boot i may well look at getting one and hunting down seats - impossible? but at leat its meant to be! 90's legacy, not retro but i'd be happy.

A proper oldskool Subaru (Pre L-series) is a bit of a ‘must-own’ car of mine.
Ideally one like Bryn’s old one, but on the road. 4-door, 2-door, wagon or pick-up, any would be welcome.

Joy in "My Name is Earl" has one I see a few farmer types locally in the pickups, one of them only this morning. Got a cool pic at home of a coupe that a mate had some years ago, been looking for a reason to post it for yonks.

I'm looking at getting a Legacy Bi Turbo wagen in the next couple of years as a family hack* *this may just become an engine donor if I get bored of the 2.2 in the wedge Seriously though, although not retro, the 2.0 twin turbo legacy wagon has some serious appeal to me, much more so than the Impreza wagon, although I'd still like to own a quick one of them too. Wagons don't tend to suffer the image problems for the saloon, they are much more practical, and I rekon better looking too.

Loving an early Subaru workout, as MrB says anything L series is good. Always fancied a proper brat with stickers and all that and I've hovered over the bid now button a few times recently. As for the later Legacy, a little souless still, they need to age a bit for me yet. But that means there retroness is untouched as yet. They are mighty juicy though, we spent a day with eight owners recently at Bruntingthorpe test track and they all cited that as big drawback. Mid to late teens at best, all were turbos but even NA isn't much better.
My choice would be an L series estate, early or later will do. Thanking you muchly ta.

Terrible on fuel, well Drew's auto 2.2 is, my 2.0 16v manual was OK, but never great.
parts are pretty much impossible to locate, main stealers only I'm afraid.... that said they don't give much grief provided the cam belts are done when they are meant to be.
they don't really feel FWD, but it's no where near as good as the audi quattro I have, I've not had the confidence to break traction on Drews car yet, my 2.0 has skinny rubber, I took that a little sideways on the way to Mansfield once, it was predicatable and easy to get back in, rather boring really.

The ones I like are the ones with the front end of the pick-up, they were available up to about a B-reg. The previous shape model, which lasted until about a W-reg, is even cooler and rarer.
