Location: CORNWALL
Price: 700
Additional Information:
Ive had this car for a little under a year. I purchased this off a chap in work who's wife has owned for the past 12 years. They kept for their son for when he passed his test but he didn't want it.
It was dry stored for some time then it spent 6 months outside my squadron building in Cornwall.
1983 Mk1 jetta C 1.3
No tax or Mot.
Sunroof
Malaga red with grey tweed interior in very good condition (needs a clean though)
59k on the clock but cannot confirm but the gears are smooth as silk no sloppy changes no wear on the steering wheel and as I said before the interior is in very good condition.
It is totally standard apart from I started to remove all the rubber trim from the doors and by the looks of it it is the original paint too. Even the front fogs are body coloured which is a nice touch.
Bodywork wise the car is very straight all the doors and boot open ands close to perfection. The bonnet catch is a bit stiff so it doesn't shut but I have a spare one that I will throw in.
Areas of importance to consider is that n/s front wing is a little rusty by the indicator and a tiny dink in the rear on the swage line on the rear panel. Hardly noticeable to be honest. Slight surface rust on the body but its too be expected really for a car this age.
Engine wise it runs sweet and pulls lovely for a 1.3 but has now developed a down pipe exhaust blow which will need to be rectified for the mot. Tyres have loads of tread on them and there are two spare wheels. And also have the original hub caps.
I stared to get it ready for the mot so replaced the front caliper seals, front discs and pads.
I also fitted some replacement headlights and indicators which took me absolutely months to find.
When I jacked up the car I noticed it had been wax oiled by the previous owner (which I know and he is very meticulous) The only bit of welding required that I have spotted is a 10p patch on the n/s rear inner arch. There is I small hole in the passenger door but I have a mint one in the same colour for the new owner.
Apart from that it is a good, honest, cool retro motor. Appearances can be deceiving it looks like a small car but there is so much leg room in the back and the boot is bigger than the boot in my Audi A4
I don't want to sell it but the wife is pregnant so all the project cars have to go.
I'm gutted I was planning on restoring her and take it upto Edition 38 to sell but the missus is due to drop Edition weekend so I'm not going to make it.
The car is so straight and mega tight with low mileage. It wont take much to get this on the road. I wouldn't be surprised at all that when the small patch is done and the exhaust blow sorted it will go straight through but I am no mot inspector.
Car is located in Helston in Cornwall After discussing the price on muliple forums it has been roughly valued between £700-900 so I'm going to say £900 but I open to sensible offers.
