I've decided to put up for sale my Mondeo ST24. I've owned this car for nearly two years now, and I first bought it as part of my job writing for Performance Ford Magazine. Though it's been my daily driver, it's also been a bit of a project car on the magazine, and as such has become reasonably well-known. It's had a selection of tasteful mods done with the aim of improving the driving experience and performance. It's also been one of the most reliable and dependable cars I've owned, as well as one of the most fun, and I'll be sorry to see it go - I'm only selling because I now do far more miles than when I bought it, and so need to trade down to something more economical!
Full details:
- 1999/S five-door hatch, built after the 1999 revision so comes with the later interior (Half-leather/'Match' fabric in Midnight Black, as opposed to the earlier dark blue 'Alchemy' interior)
- 87,000 miles with full service history; this includes a fully-stamped service book with the last two services carried out by RS specialists AmD Technik, and a bundle of invoices too
- MOT until June 2010
- Tax until the end of June 2010 is to be sent back, but I can include with sale for an additional £75
- Full complement of ST24 equipment, including full RS Accessory Pack bodykit. air conditioning which blows ice-cold, electric windows all round, heated electric mirrors, driver's airbag, power steering, and even the original Ford carpet mats! 16" 'Turbine' alloy wheels are fitted to the car at present, and these have Dunlop Sport SP tyres with good tread.
- Drives perfectly with no nasty knocks or clunks; starts first time every time; engine runs smoothly and there's no sign of any timing chain rattle. The IMRC, a common ST24 problem area, is also in good working order, and the plastic engine cover has been removed to encourage cold air flow to it (can be supplied with the car if necessary)
- Fitted with Koni Sport suspension kit, front and rear, which includes adjustable dampers and 40mm lowering springs
- Front brakes uprated with Black Diamond Combi drilled & grooved discs, and Performance brake pads
- Cat-back Milltek stainless steel exhaust and Pipercross Viper shielded induction kit fitted.
- Remapped by AmD Technik; recent rolling road at Superchips gave a reading of 183bhp.
- Sound system upgraded by way of a JVC CD head unit with MP3 capability, Infinity front speakers, and boot-mounted Kenwood amp and sub-woofer. The sub has not been permanently anchored so can be removed if large loads need to be carried.
Faults I'm aware of:
- Minor rust bubbles just starting to come through on trailing edges of rear arches
- Chip in passenger side of windscreen - has passed last two MOTs
- Drivers' side door card speaker grille corner has been chipped off
- Central locking can play up - car has been known to lock itself but never unlocks itself. Remote is also a bit temperamental but always locks/unlocks fine with key.
- O/S/R door does not lock with locking.
The car's available to view in Sevenoaks, Kent. Feel free to PM me or reply directly to this thread if you have any questions you want answered. ;D
