Must say we were a bit peeved at being sprayed with water cannons while sat in the traffic through Newquay on the way out of the show. They managed to get Isabel one time too. I ought to be able to cruise through the town, window open, without my baby daughter getting sprayed like that. Seemed to mostly be the modern car lot that were doing it. Even saw a local woman getting shot at - a sure way to help the public image of the show!! Man, I thought that'd all stopped. Sorry to hear that. It is an issue, and the council / police are trying to put a stop to it as it's getting out of hand - people putting brake fluid / battery acid in the water pistols, people opening car doors and dumping buckets of water on drivers laps (this happened to my friend some while back). It's a pain in the ar$e, and you're constantly scanning the road ahead for tw@ts with supersoakers Another reason to avoid it, they've been 'doing' something about it for the last ten years... I've seen showcars get driven into by people blinded by water and too many times I've had to ride through a baking hot Newquay with windows up. Worse was in my beach buggy when I didn't have a choice. Once I was riding along on the back of a Unimog with my camera bag and camera in hand taking shots of the convoy. A father encouraged his kids to spray me with a full-on garden hose, it's just a joke, and mainly done by non-car related people. Nah, I'm glad I had a laugh when I could and I'm out. Best retaliation I've ever seen was a beer barrel filled with water, gas cylinder and power wash lance on a V8 engined Fugitive rail. It could catch anything, then soak them properly. Either that or a mate with a WW2 armoured car with fully functioning anti-aircraft gun on the back. Four barrels with spark plugs igniting gas, it had recoil, the works. Shat the life out of anybody in range of it... Which was about a mile when he fired it up. Saweeet... We always fancied an ex-Northern Island Land Rover crowd control vehicle ;D But it shouldn't have to be that way.

It's the same f0ckwits who go to Benidorm / Torremolinos and smash the place up "cos they're on holiday, innit" - they think because they're away from home they can act like cants and get away with it. Well said! It's 99% chav idiots that spoil what is still a good RTTS. Newquay as a whole has changed, this is particularly noticable during the holiday season. Newquay used to be a place to go to get away from the rat race, a place that laid back & had a cool, chilled out vibe about it. During the last few years it has become a hot spot for Stag/Hen parties & large groups of blokes on the lash. Owners of camp sites & caravan parks (Trevelgue being one of them) actively encourage these kind of people because of the revenue it brings in. You gotta remember that from late September thru April with the exception of NYE, Newquay is as quiet as many other seaside towns. I must say that the water pistol lot weren't as much in evidence as they have been in the previous years......

During the last few years it has become a hot spot for Stag/Hen parties & large groups of blokes on the lash. I'll concur with this. It's sad, really. When I first started doing an annual pilgrimage to Newquay (often via several other 'chilled' places) it was great. laid back, no hassles just a great vibe. Few beers, bit of a smoke and some good times on the beach. Nothing complicated. As the years went by it became more and more geared towards those interested in binge-drinking themselves to oblivion and generally acting like feral tw@ts. Without shutting half of the town down (with the associated loss of revenue) I don't know what they can do to bring the good times back....

I suggest some sort of enforcement droid, such as the popular ED-209 model pictured below.

We went to have a look at the main campsite as i had never been to RTTS before. One of the guys working there was stopping people on the road to direct them to where they needed to go. He stopped a car to talk to the driver and a black Datsun (i think) came over the hill so fast it only just missed the stopped car. The driver locked up the brakes and had to go onto the verge to avoid an accident. He seemd to think it was funny and so did his mates..
I did see alot of curse word about and after reading this thread i think i will give it a miss next year.
