Hi Folks, I'm new to the RR site. Can someone tell me what Area 52 is? I have seen a couple of photos of what looks like a sleep over(!), I am guessing a classic car garage of sorts.... Does Area 52 have vehicles for sale, if so how do you see the stock list? Cheers, Giles

Click the link in my sig It's Mysterymachine's unit. Loosely speaking, once a month a group of men (and a few ladies) go to Bristol, play with cars, chat, drink a few beers, cook good food in somewhat adverse conditions and make a damn good weekend of it. It's not a business, or a public service, it's just a group of friends having fun

In 2010, a car modification unit was sent to the internet by a military court for a slamming\tirestretch\spring cutting they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security forum to the Bristol underground. Today, still wanted by the forum trolls, they survive as car builders of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the Area 52 Team.

It is like an old school car club, like from before when we had the internet and stuff Check the thread, and if you get the chance pop along and have a look for yourself. I hope more people are getting inspired by A52 to start their own local garage days, or even go full on unit sharing. Like old school car clubs used to do

There's even a guy (hardcore) who smokes cigars and says 'I love it when a plan comes together' (not strictly true that bit) ! Area 52 is a place where you can laugh, learn, help, get help and sometimes express yourself by smashing a butt plug into a vauxhall cavalier. I'm sure that if you started reading the epic A52 thread you know by now that a monthly pilgrimage from wherever you are to Bristol is definitely worth it

MadMaxx, you crack me up. Thanks for the awesome comment, I might have to print it out and put it up on the walls of the unit ;D
I think it's pretty much been covered....but it's impossible to truly convey without actually being there.
I am sure every single one of the people who've been to one of the play weekends can confirm that reading about it only shows a fraction of how much fun the weekend is. For example, a photo will (at some point soon) be put up of 'someone' doing a burnout in the unit. Without being there you will never get the true effect of how 3,000sq ft of workshop was completely filled with the smoke and how for four/five/six hours after, there was still a strange 'ethereal' mist in the air and that 'petrolhead' fragrance of burnt rubber. Awesome!
I'm not even going to go into the details of Mikey practicing sky diving in the unit.....the photos will be funny, but unless you were there, you'll never really understand that moment when we all turned around to find him floating mid air with the biggest grin on his face.....priceless!
The thread is a bit of a leviathan, but I've been told it's well worth a read. I've enjoyed reading it fully through a few times myself, but more to see how the place has progressed and evolved....and to reminisce about the amazing weekends we've had at the place.
But as I'v mentioned abouve, the only true way you'll every really see what it's about is to come along and join in. I think one of the best & most appropriate comments is the one Brian made and I'll leave you with that, "it doesnt matter that you have never been as when you leave you will feel like you belong"
I do hope you can come along sometime. ;D

Thanks for the info on A52, sounds fab fun - and who can resist workshops?! As for me, I live in Stratford Upon Avon and have a few cars.... Mk1 64 Imp, Classic '97 Cooper S touring (john cooper garages one), Series 3 Rag top Landy swb, 2000 Boxster S, company car every 4 months.... and not forgetting the 3 Sinclair C5's! I'm a design engineer at Gaydon, Warwickshire. I'm looking at buying something along the lines of your RR's, will let you know how I get on. Cheers, Giles

Having finally started reading the BIG thread, I just want to get across to Area 52 for a play day. Thing is, I'm in Essex, SWMBO wouldn't be impressed at me disappearing for the weekend and my car is STILL in pieces. RR Area 52 SE is much needed!! You should start a franchise!!!
