On my RV8 'box (LT77) the input shaft (if that what it's called? - the bit that stabs the crank!) is much smaller than the hole in the crank - I can't imagine this is ideal and will probably just lob around in the hole...
My thought were to have a bush lathed up to fit it? is this what you do or are there specific 'ready made' parts for this problem ?
ps::: hheelllpppp !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers Rob

Its supposed to have a phosphor bronze bush in there!!! I bet you can buy one from rimmers or something, don’t assemble it all without one!

I would of thought that there should be a spigot bearing in your crank as most rwd setups do, due to the extra length of the spigot shaft (input shaft) that a rwd has compaired to a fwd. Its main purpose being to keep the clutch centralised. I'm sure you could just measure up the hole and the shaft with a vernier and pop along to your local motor factors and get 1. Failing that, at a place i once worked we put a 2.8 granada V6 in our transit and had a few problems with the transit spigot not fitting the bearing in the V6. I cant remember exactly what the problem was but i know we solved it by having 1 made in bronze at my dad's engineering firm.

^^ As above either a bearing or a phosphor bronze bearing is what you need.

yeah figured that was the case...
Mr B - we stopped assembly pretty sharpish when we noticed it was missing...
does it have to be phosphor bronze ? Is this just because it's soft or does it have magical qualities ?

soft enough not to wear into the shaft but hard enough not to wear out straight away.

also phospror bronze is self-lubricating to a certain extent, i think thats the main reason.
