I am hoping to pick it up on Saturday. The PO, who's house it has been at for all these years, is going in for hip surgery on Thursday. My goal is to get it back on the road before a local GTG March 12th. I have a full schedule with school and work. So, it will be tight. Luckily I work as a tech and have access to the shop. One funny thing is, I work at a Chevrolet dealer who used to sell Grummans. Mine has been local its whole life. So, odds are it was sold and serviced at the dealer I work at. Any way, here are a few pictures. You can see the motorhome that is blocking it in. The PO has to find the key and try to get the motorhome started. If not, its going to be one hell of a push to move it. You can see the front of it. Inside. Here is the back. You can see on taillight bezel. The drivers one, the one you see is stepped out. The passenger side is flat. If anyone knows where I can get a replacement so they match that would be AWESOME. I will be driving this as a daily this summer. My plan is to drop it and to get it running and driving as well as I can.

The Kubvan has an interesting history.
The drivetrain is all VW. 1.6n/a diesel with a 3spd auto. The front suspension and brakes are all mk1 as well. The rear suspension is B1.
I ordered a big box of parts ie brakes, timing belt, filters etc to try to get this thing back on the road soon. I also picked up tires last week for it. But more on that when I get the wheels on Friday.

Interesting, never seen one of those before. I'm more familiar with the more recent LLV ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grumman_LLV For those of you'se who don't see them regularly) which is pressed into use by the postal service. Interesting find, shall watch with interest. --Phil

Worked on is Saturday. It is still in the same spot.
I threw a battery in it. It has been a bit cold so it wouldn't start. Come to find out the glow plug circuit isn't working. I jumped the plug straght to the battery for 30 seconds and she started right up.
I also replaced two of the tires. As they were flat.
I tried to move in it the 3 feet of space I had, the left rear wheel is frozen. I tried to break it loose, but no go. I plan on going back this coming weekend. I am going to spray the curse word out of the drum with PB Blaster. I also need to see if it is the parking brake.
I took a couple more pictures, however they are still on my camera. I will try to get them up tonight when I get home from school.

Interesting, never seen one of those before. Me neither, actually i´ve never heard of the LLV either... A friend of mine has a Grumman-Olson StepVan, with a GM 6.2-liter diesel-V8, one of those you see on every second Hollywood-movie as icecream-trucks. The build is every bit as harsh as on the Kubvan, beautiful riveted aluminium body ;D

Any chance you can find me one? I don't think it would be the only one in the uk though nigel i'm fairly sure I have seen one of these driving on the a14 withiun the last six months or so. it may be from a us airbase as there is a lot of usaf traffic on that road and i don't recall if it had a uk numberplate.

I am thinking about calling out of work tomorrow to pick this beast up. I really want to get working on it and driving it.
The parts guy at work thinks he knows which Kubvan I have. It was owned buy a local flower business. This is almost a small world situation.

I drove it home tonight. I will have lots of pictures tomorrow when I bring it into work. I really need to figure out wiperblades and the wiper motor (not hooked up, and not working). I also have a couple bulbs to replace and a brake booster to hook up. (manual brakes suck!)
