It's not a straight bolt in swap, if that's what you're asking. If you're prepared for some engineering work, they can be made to fit, just as they can be made to fit any car. If you want to be different, then go ahead, I am The Volvo B230 is a good engine and it would make a nice change from seeing an XE or LET in a Manta. If you want an easier conversion, grab hold of a C20LET from a Calibra Turbo. This is a bolt in swap, and you already have most of the parts to do it. Just a bit of wiring to sort out, an injection fuel tank and you're practically there

Russell, you don't need to source a Volvo lump... There's a B230ET unit round at my dad's place. You just need to extracate it from the Volvo shaped box it is lurking in! I may relocate the car up to the barn after the 17th, so it will be fair game thereafter

B230ET is the engine of choice for any Volvo turbo tuner on a budget. Very good engine with lots of potential.

do u recon the swap into an aging manta will be easyish mwf? Nope, I think it will be hard work. How about an XE or a LET, or if a LET is too expensive then a turbo converted XE.

Yeah, tractor engines in opels is in my eyes... wrong Go for a xe or let, itll save you buttloads of trouble, plus, they look smarter than 8v volvo engines... and 16v volvo turboes.. Then you are talking money, atleast over here

Depending on how far you go, I'd recommend sourcing a later spec 2.3 turbo engine. ie. B230FK (LPT with different actuator) and B230FT (HPT) as these have 13mm rods instead of the ET's 9mm. But then again - it might not even be a problem til you start pushing it!
