other half went out last week and parked in a Focus diy store car park it was 8.00 after the shop was closed and she wasnt looking or didnt see the signs, ive not been over to check they are there yet anyhow, your only allowed to stay 90mins ,theres no barriers or anything but they have sent a black and white pic showing the time in and time out , which was 134 mins £60 fine and no discount if you pay straight away its a private firm thats got the details off the dvla, called simply G24 ltd, gerrards cross , bucks and the letter says in the corner member of the BPA
if you don't pay it says the bill will be passed to a debt recovery agency
shes normally good and has never been fined b4 but it was dark and she wasnt expecting or looking for any parking restrictions

Ignore it. They'll send you a couple more letters, from themselves, two more from the next person along and then another 2 from a pretend solicitor. IIRC, it's a fine, which they're not allowed to issue. If it said charge however, it wouldn't be so shakey...

cool just been onto moneysaverexpert forum and theres a long 9 page thread about the company
no one has paid nd no one has been fined or debt collected !
thought it was a bit steep £60 with no option to pay early the car park was massive too and virtually empty ! i guess easy money pay 2 quid to dvla and a quick letter and voila heres 60- £95 profit

was it a private car park belongng to the diy store. if so don't worry, as from next week, the government is banning clamping in private car parks (or so Ive heard) due to the fact that they're conning people out of thousands.

Also it's not a fine, it's a charge. They call it a fine to pretnd it's more offical than it actually is.

As already mentioned, don't worry about it.
I was in a very similar position a couple of years ago. From memory I got 2 letters from them (the second being moderately threatening) and one for a "solicitor". Strangly I never did get taken to court....

I got 2 letters from them (the second being moderately threatening) and one for a "solicitor". I've had hundreds like these, usually the "solicitor" has the same address as the private parking company. If you want to be certain, write and ask them which section of which act you are alledged to be in breach of and they'll almost certainly reply that they're not enforcing a broken law but a broken contract, some flim-flam about what it says on the sign when you drive in.

There's not much that they can do. They'll send you increasingly threatening letters. Theoretically they could sue you under trespass or something but they won't although they'll hint at it. I sent them a letter (mainly because my wife worried about it) telling them that if they want the money they'll have to take us to court. I thought it would shut them up, but they sent one back telling me that my appeal had failed. In short, as everyone else has said - ignore them.

Plenty of advice there...thanks helpful RRers.
Anyone else with any useful info please PM Mattttttttttt from now on, this thread is decidedly more parkingproblems.com than retro-rides.
Good luck, and remember folks...watch where you park and read the signs.
