I've been meaning to post these piccies for a couple of days but having read the posts on thread topics I wasent so sure. The cars are definately classic, but probably not retro. If any mods decide this is not what is wanted feel free to lock or delete this thread. Anyway....Cadwell Park last weekend, vintage racing event. Hot rod before the term was even invented. Consists of 4 J (John A Prestwich) v twins bolted together. I love this to a disturbing degree. 4 and a half liter v twin. Harley eat your heart out Exposed valve springs are the new black BMW motorbike engined racer, different for sure Napier aircraft engined heavyweight racer, possibly the Napier Lion W section engine, nearly 80 years before the Veyron Giving it some in the wet, Manx Norton engined Cooper racer, now thats what you call a carb, 1 and half inch AMAL GP. Prize of little worth to anyone who can tell me the relationship between ton up 50's rockers motorbikes and these things.

I wanted to go to this as it's only down the road from me but had too much welding to do on my truck so I got on with that instead. I went to one of the previous vintage events at Cadwell and it was great. They really do give them some stick on the track too. The quad J engined racer is just perfect!

Drooling on my keyboard, very good stuff. Love seeing coverage of VSCC-events! I think the bike-engined thingy is a Pembleton; www.pembleton.co.uk/cars.html

Prize of little worth to anyone who can tell me the relationship between ton up 50's rockers motorbikes and these things. this the triton. for those that don't know, it was very difficult, if not impossible, to obtain a new manx engine from norton. what the racers of the day did was buy a complete bike, just for the engine. then the question of what to do with all these engineless bikes. answer, fit an engine that was readily available, the triumph twin. you end up with the superb featherbed norton frame and awesome performance, and the cooper formula junior can carry on racing. everyone happy

Never apologise/hesitate for posts like this. All I see is petrol fuelled passion/obsession. Vintage-classic-retro works for me.
Any more?
