yep tyres, nowt dodgy Had a look on kwik fit site (first one that came up) cos some of mine are a bit worn. the new set ive got, the front two are quite healthy but its the inside edge thats worn down below 1mm. Obviously been on a lowered car, however i have seen worse. I'd say they ate safe as the rest of the tyre has about 3mm. Are they legal though? kwikfit: I'll get a piccie at 5 if noone can advise on text alone. cheers

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

It can also depend on if there are wear bars the the outer grooves - if no then the breadth of the tyre is reduced further

I always thought that as long as 75% of the tread was legal then you're fine. Obviously if it's worn down to the plys it's not though...

I told a policeman about the 75% thing once, I was right except it had to have "visible" tread on the remaining 25% and I didnt, He gave me a vehicle defect notice.

sounds borderline, i'll get some pics up at 5. It should take me upto MOT then thy'll make their minds up, false economy though as a second test isn't cheap! luckily its the same garage doing the tyres... some obvious examples on the KF site www.kwik-fit.com/changing-tyres-illustrations.asplowered cars are an expensive business!

To be honest if its getting down to that kind of level and its your daily driver I would change them anyway. Not that I am one to judge as I was using tyres like this on Sunday ;D

Later than expected due to a dopey mishap! and The inner edges are probably less than 1mm but look at the big rain channels theres loads of depth, defo safe IMO but probably illeagal!

Considered that too. Damn cars. expense! they do look safe though as water can travel through center sections but steering in water could be not so good though. might see what the tyre man says... 'definately need 4 lad'! 'Doh!'

personally i wouldnt worry about that. check out my front camber wear. yes, lowered cars are an expensive business.

why doesn't someone invent lowered car tyres? such a waste weaing one side only. Idea: a higher outside sidewall, or a rounded bike tyre approach. hang about, that copyrighting right there!
I'm off to my drawing board...
