Nice. I learned to drive and passed my test in one of these, so I have a fondness for them. I had eight hours behind the wheel of that particular one but never been in one since.
Good luck with it.

Was real gutted about the speakers too and they catch on the window winders Will ditch em and fit some flush ones unless i can get a pair of replacement door cards. Tidy looking Jetta in your sig kingsmith looks ace on the P slots.

Interior is sexy...(in a early 80's kinda way) the gl is really well equipped, does yours have a locking glove-box as well?

I know what you mean about the interior, it does have the locking glovebox although the barrel has come out and is rolling about in the ashtray. The ignition key fits it but one of the little tumbler things is missing.

Tidy looking Jetta in your sig kingsmith looks ace on the P slots. its solid enough got a few bumps in the doors , but i like, has plenty or running problems with it always want to break on me but plugging away..only had it 2 weeks and dropped a valve and smash curse word out of the engine...but all good now ;D plenty of jobs to keep me busy.. so what colour you getting in done the same..?? its the interiour i love the most, very retro...just needs a sweet wooden steering wheel..then leave.. get the update up when you can.. enjoy ;D

Not made it to the bodyshop yet, but there has been progress... Uh Oh!!! This was the only little surprise i got whilst stripping it out which in my book is a result. Gone where the wing mounted aeriel cable comes through.

Nice to see this being saved, I can't remember the last time I saw a Mk1 Jetta. I wonder what the current alloys would look like in black with gold detailing? They look like a good size for the car if it were lowered a bit.
