now that my overtime is being scaled back a bit I'm trying to keep money coming in so I'm going to be offering up my fabbing skills. Got an ac/dc tig welder so can make stuff in ally etc, inlet manifolds, exhausts, intercooler piping, head repairs etc. wont turn down a job just because its small. let me know what your needing As ben prodded me a little FWIW I'm an aircraft fitter to trade and also a coded welder ( sent myself back to college for that one) I was taught mild steel up to 6mm thick welding vertical up joints ( which is difficult for those that know) but i taught myself how to do ally and as a few A52 peeps can verify I'm not bad at it

Might be worth amending your title to say you can work with aluminium and stainless, Ross. Don't want people just assuming you only work with mild on a MIG. May be worth mentioning your dayjob too. Sell yourself, eh? Free bump

what size are they ? what do you want them made in ?

i just want a rough price

but untill i know the size and material i cant give you a rough price, ally is alot more expensive than steel, so not wanting to give you a price then find I'm way off due to material costs.

give me price for both then

ok in steel it would be around 80 quid, in aircraft grade ally would be about 140-180.

sorry too much, been quoted alot less Wow.... give a bloke a chance eh. How the hell can he quote for something when he doesn't have dimensions or a spec to work to - sizes, does it have to be identical in design to the pic or can it be done without the bends etc. etc. etc.

sorry too much, been quoted alot less A few years back I was very well known for designing and making custom parts for Delica's. Bespoke one-off things, custom and unique. Every now & then I'd get someone just like you asking to make me something like a one-off version of my rear ladder for a Delica in 316 stainless steel. The design work would be a good 5 or 6 hours minimum, the laser cutting costs around £60, the material around £50 and the welding approx £80....plus an hours drive to Frome to collect the laser work, two hours to Poole to get the welding done, two hours back and then four hours to get it all polished up. So we are looking at around £190 in material/outsource costs then 15+ hours of my time plus fuel. When I quoted them £350 they immediately laughed and told me they had seen Land Rover ones on eBay for £60. Yeah...mass produced in China and not compatible with a Delica. If you can get them cheaper, just stick your hand in your pocket and buy some then....don't expect someone to make them as custom pieces and quote you 20 pence each, particularly as you have been about as helpful with material choice and sizes as my Granny is at doing my cambelt! It's people like you that expect everything for bottom dollar and winge like a little girl when you don't get it your way and it makes me sick! Anyone actually interested in getting anything made by Ross, I can vouch for his TIG welding skills....he certainly knows how to melt metal together!!

Any chance you could price for making up 6 or so of these strongboys: Can get back to you with exact sizes but they are about a foot long overall. Obviously need to be strong as they're for holding walls up! Thanks
