That is nice, sounds like the 'usual' Golf formula but it works so well and the smoked headlights look great too

This is what happens when you do the simple things right and then know when to stop. Exactly what I thought. One odd thing I spotted though - the location of the rear wheels. Is that a consequence of lowering a mkIII, that the wheels position themselves a little further forward of centre? |

This is what happens when you do the simple things right and then know when to stop. Yep, definitely. Golf + BBS is tried and tested, but it works really well. Very nice car. |

IIRC you can get some plates that bring the wheels back again. But for the price, I think a lot of people think it's not worth it. VW's and BBS's will never be old or boring. |

Didn't the smaller engined model MKIIIs have a slightly longer wheelbase than the GTI and VR6 models, to make sure whatever size wheels were fitted by VW were centered in the wheels arches? |

All Mk3 and Mk4 Golfs do it when slammed, my least favourite bit of them as they can otherwise look awesome.  Not sure about 5s these seem fairly centred  Matt |
