Well, since selling my splitty, this is my daily driver - ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v93/dubwarrior2/DSC00021-1.jpg) Lately I have become a bit obsessed with early 70s american vans. I love them to bits. I especially love the crazy metal flake/fish scale/pannel paint jobs and jacked up rear ends. Anyway, this would be my ideal van - ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v93/dubwarrior2/4496380261_8df1d8fb3c_b.jpg) But seeing as I cant afford to import an american 70s survivor, I'm tempted to tackle one of our good old Bedford vans (CF1 or CF2) I don't know sod all about them really, except that they seem to rot quite badly so am after some advice please. I'm not after a minter and, too be honest, engine is unimportant as it will probably end up with a heart transplant anyway.

Bedfords are cooler than American vans. Fact! There were a lot of custom Bedford CFs in the UK and Australia back in the day. ![](http://image24.webshots.com/25/5/86/86/38358686KegOtb_ph.jpg) ![](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3096/2872246211_b03436ff4f.jpg) ![](http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs429.snc4/47200_1591332510212_1442867450_31575145_2648277_n.jpg) And that was just a quick and lazy Google search! There are a lot of much cooler ones out there. Bubble windows, velour interiors with mini-bar, gullwing doors and barbarian murals, it all works well on a CF! And they take modern customisation very nicely too if you're more into big alloy wheels and smoothed bodywork.

I was looking at bedford vans a couple of years ago, they are quite expensive for clean ones though, especially when you compare them to the prices of real american day vans that usually already come with a V8 and posh interior.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

Probably cheaper than replacing the Split. ;D CF's are cool things, certainly cheaper & less of them around. ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png)

I used to hate CF'S but thats because there was a realy smokey one round the corner that just never seemed to die....
They have grown on me though. Something about them just works with slots and slam

I LOVE cf's! Iv always wanted one but my wife says I cant get a van as she says only a certain type of person uses them! Working on proving her wrong as I don't think you get cooler than a cf. Although saying that a bloke in Whaley Bridge has an exact replica of the A-Team van that looks/sounds amazing! Genuine GM van too!
