My brother has just signed up for this www.czechwrecks.com/index.esp a roadtrip from UK to Prague and needs to get hold of a £100 car with MOT to get him there. The car needs to hold together for the one way trip then he's selling it in Prague and flying home. Anyone got anything cheap or any ideas of a ride, he was hunting on fleabay and found an Audi 80 and a couple of Volvos but still needs suggestions as well as hints from anyone whos done anything similar and had experience of spares, tools etc ;D

I would always (predictably) say POLO!
But if you can get an Audi 80 or Volvo for that, sod the polo, travel in semi-luxury barge fashion

Fellow RRer danblez did the Staples to Naples rally in the Mazda of DoomTM along with a select crew of equally mentally unhinged cohorts. I'm sure he'd gladly give you some pointers.
Sounds like a right laugh - I want to do one next year, with any luck

£100 would probably buy a Citroen BX, would be very comfy as well! I really want to do one of these runs sometime next year, we should plan a Retro Rides invasion or something

Reno 19 oilburners are very cheap at the moment. You wont get a buzz driving one but they're cheap to run and comfortable.

try your local auction. I've picked up all manner of cheap junk there thats been fine, just see what nobody else wants and have that at a low bid

Hey Speedman as Benzboy pointed out I did the Staples version last year and it was a great laugh. Don't go for the best car you can get It was far more fun not knowing if it was going to get over the next hill than never having to lift the bonnet which many teams didnt. I would go for something as uncomplicated as possible as most cars that failed did so on electronic gremlins which were nigh on impossible to sort at the roadside. Regarding tools we took a socket set, few screwdrivers, tie wraps, an odd bit of spare pipe work for the cooling system and a selection of tapes, wire and tie wraps. A BIG bottle of water and a fire extinguisher. One thing that did come in useful that we didnt take but borrowed was some silicon sealant which just about held the carb on. Take a look at the link below for info on stuff that went wrong and you will find lots of pics of the other cars that enetered. PM me if you want any more info will help out all I can. www.durbster.co.uk/content/s2n/index.shtmlRIP DoomWagon
