Afternoon all,
Thought it was high time I chucked some of pics up instead of browsing the "for sale" section for things I can't afford!!
So, my and the missus picked up these for her folks' house in France for €80. There's an expat down there who clears others brits' barns and sells on the contents, he's got a barn with 30-odd old peds... We went down and stated our budget and he gave me these two beauts plus a few spares.
So I went about putting the one with the free engine together, got it pedalling, but no spark
(no apologies for beer in the garage, I was on holiday)
This one is now back in the country, awaiting new ignition coils to be fitted (ordered from Aplins of Bristol - extremely helpful old boy) after which it should run.
I wish everything was as simple;- there's no ignition switch, no gears, no CVT, the engine is stopped by decompressing the cylinder! Lights are on/off, no brake lights, no indicators, no speedo. Then again, you could probably walk faster!!
After I've got it running, it's getting stripped down for paint (probs hammerite , maybe two-tone cream and green) new rear brake shoes and then reassembled ready for smoking round in the summer!
The second one needs unseizing and a rear wheel that fits - or breaking to fund a 50 that can top 20mph (for me, the missus can have this one!)
thanks for looking,
Tony
