Its not all rodders, in fact i'm pretty sure its a very small minority. The problem starts when people think that the minority is speaking for the whole scene. What kinda does curse word me off is the way some of these guys have gone along and put there cars on show then slagged off the people who come to look at them because they don't know anything about 'that type' of cars. What are they gonna do? Make people sit an entry exam before they come in? How the hell are they gonna get new blood into the scene with that attitude?
I guess these people complaining on here are the same people who accused street machine of loosing its way back in the 90's when it started featuring euro lookers and mini trucks and building pro touring GTO's.

hey! lets not get this about of proportion and on the right track. lets hope this doesn't go all PC. I didn't want to start arguements/wars with this topic and I certainly don't take the insult (from the very small minority) seriously. in fact it makes me laugh . I pidy the fools who can't appreciate cars in general. I just haven't seen this bigotry in the rod scene before (maybe I mix with moderates). I was hoping people would laugh along with me at the narrow mindedness of the few loud mouths, not mount a PC forum style geurilla offensive, so lets calm things down and chill wheres tonycocacola and his "special plants"? topic on the nsra board is now closed BTW. thanks for putting up with the rant

I see your posts were genuine and sincere, Iwas just worried for a minute it might turn into another "world war practical classics". I wouldn't want that to happen again. don't want people to get bent out of shape over this, just be aware that it happens and laugh it off

TBH I think they thought you were an old trouble maker from their forum disguised as 'Suffolkpaul'! Glad it didn't get sticky, interesting though.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Edd, have been on our forum recently? Have a peep in car chat! SuffolkPaul, why not come to Mersea Madness on June 11th or if you are about on Wednesday 7th June, why not come along to the Black Horse at Stratford St Mary, just off the A12 to one of our club nights. We'd love to meet you (if we haven't already) The subject on what should & shouldn't be on a showfield is one that is going to rumble on & on. Talking to people in the classic car scene, it wasn't that long ago that people were moaning about Morris Minors (Sorry Edd ) creeping on to the show fields, now they are common place and accepted with open arms. www.ahra.org.uk

The showfield one is a long old issue. Its what also gets called "power parking". Thing is as long as I can remember the showfiled thing has caused controversy. One time it was no rat rods, another time it was no unfinished cars, etc. couple of years ago it was yank cars that got singled out. What some people want is that only high quality rods & customs are put on the show field. anything which falls foul of the description on any of the three parts on there is going to get someone tut-tutting. Also when some peoples cars were getting the best spots on the show field for 2 or 3 years running there was a bitchorama.
Like I say, I always park under the trees. Keeps my car shady and cool if it gets hot and its off the show area. I'm not there for a trophy so I don't need the best judging spot.
