I've just got back from peterborough with the 280CE i bought of ebay last week, and its a right little corker. In the ad the guy said the starter had packed up and needed replacing so me and Dave turned up expecting to have to roll around in the wet fitting a new one to get it home, but we stuck the jump leads on it and it fired up straight away. The geezer looked pig sick ;D I've done about 150 miles in it so far and it hasnt missed a beat, even michelle likes it so it cant be bad. I cant belive i only paid £450 for this beast. With a couple of weekends work i reckon i could easily go and a grand for it. But i',m not going to. Jobs it needs are; NSR electric window doesnt work, I think its come off the runner. Rad need replacing as its got no fins in it and it starts getting hot when you go over 80mph. ABS light is on all the time. Probably needs a wheel sensor. Drivers door lock doesnt work, needs a new barrel. Might need a new battery. I'll tell you in the morning. A few little bits of rust here and there but nothing terrible. I'll get some pics of it tomorrow and have a go at some of the silly little jobs but right now i'm gonna sit here feeling smug for the rest of the night Oh yeah, anyone wanna buy a brand new starter for a six pot merc? Swap it for a rad ;D

Like a guy in the club who gave away an absolutely mint 1500HL, that had spun the big ends. Guy came around, dropped the sump, replaced all the bearings in situ, topped it up, drove off ;D
I suppose a new set of bearings was a cheaper alternative to getting a trailer or summat. ;D Wonder how long it lasted!
Ace story though - I would have loved to have seen his face ;D

Here she is in all her glory. Not many pics as it was raining and i don't really do rain. It does good burnouts in the wet though ;D I went round my mates to show it off and found this in his garage Which was nice. He's been doing some work on it for a customer. I wont go into too many details but its gonna be an awesome car once its finished. Same mate also has this for sale. Mk1 rag top. Aparently it starts and goes. The price is 'offers' so make of that what you want. I don't even know how much one of these is worth.

It is indeed a 56 and one of the nicest i've seen in ages I'm gonna hang on the merc for a while. I now know why classic merc drivers always have a smug look on their faces. Driving it feels like being wrapped in a blanket and carried around by my mum ;D ;D The AA badge has been noted too ;D

wow that looks remarkable for £450, excellent work. Are you gonna sack off that spoiler on the bootlid? Whats happening on the Volvo front?

Spoilers going straight in the bin. I cant belive some nob end drilled holes in the boot to fit a light up ironing board. It'll have to stay till i get round to sorting out the rust and repainting it though. Volvo boy is still on my hit list. I'm gonna start turning up the heat soon. Even if the engine does turn out to be shagged i still want it. Thats if it even exists

Good call on the spoiler - it does exactly what the name suggests Lately I have more of a concerned look on my face when driving my Merc, due to its love of chucking petrol all over the place. But I know what you mean - there's nothing like rolling around in a classic Benz is there?! Hope you get the Volvo too - I think they're different enough to warrant owning both!
