Sadly, Mrs Tea forced me to do some work in the garden today but I have managed a little bit this weekand. Next job is to chop off that wing support plate and repair the bit under it. The bottom of the wing support has a hole in it so it is no great loss. I bought this wing support ten years ago, been meaning to do it for a while now ;D

Just reads the entire thread. I like the way you're using all OEM stuff. I'm sure some purists will hate you for it. Hope you have earned enough time in the garden to keep working on the 911!
Cheers

I have been working 'darn sarf' all week, approx 227 miles from my shed. When I got home today, I nipped in to do a bit for an hour after tea. I cut off the top of the wing support and repaired the bit under it. I also filled the hole which had the socket in it for the electric window loom, which is redundant due to windey windows. That pipe you see in the pic will have to go, it is a sunroof drain, and, you may remember, I have no sunroof. I don't think this weekend will be very productive as Mrs Tea is at university, so I will have to ferry the nipper about to various drama groups, clubs and activities that she does. Perhaps I should enrole her on a welding course? ;D

I do however have one question how do you get things like the add on ridges to blend in and look like pressed in rather than added on without thinning the metal where it's welded Try to make the bits fit together as well as possible before you weld then tidy up with this That is for inner panels. On outer body work I would make the repair section a perfect fit to the panel and run it in with the tig, no filler rod. This is all self taught. Practice on old, scrap wings and stuff is where I learned. I have had a few old Fiats back in the day so welding was a way of life

Tidy bit of fabrication there sir ;D How come that in the time it takes me to do three inches of inner wing, you have built a door and a boot? ;D Mrs Tea was down in the smoke today so after Choir then piano practice (not me, the nipper) I only got an hour in the shed. I have removed the wing support. There was another redundant wiring hole so I filled that up And sanded it off Stuck a bit of etch primer on to protect it. with any luck I will get the wing support on tomorrow. Then I can crack on with the sill.

Saw this and thought of you Cheers Tony. It looks tidy but I think they are very pricey. As I never picked up the triple roll over I will just have to plod on and build my own hot rod. But...... I am out of action at the moment with man-flu, so nothing going on in the shed at the moment.

If the man-flu turns fatal, can I have first dibs on the 911? :-)

Just getting over the man-flu now, so I thought I would ease myself gently back into it. I was going to put on the wing support. I thought that I had better check that the wing fitted first, so I offered it up with the wing support held on by self tappers. It was rubbish, the wing stuck out miles too far. I decided to cut a slot out of the support and close it up and then weld it back together Fettled it up and a bit of etch primer on it and it looks like it did before I started. Wing doesn't stick out so much now though Had enough now, going for a hot bath. I'll have to fit it another day.

Good thinking to try it first, you would have thought that being a genuine Porsche part that it would have been right first time

Mrs Tea tasked me with some DIY today (repointing) But when she went into town I sneaked into the shed And stuck my thing on. This is just between us, right? Don't tell Mrs Tea ;D
