After much screwing around with loads of different wheels I finally pulled my finger out and bought some decent ones, got some slightly stretched tyres this morning and went and fitted them. The good new is it looks the shizzle. The bad news is I couldn't get the jack out from under the car, or get it back in to get the car up again. Anyway. Pics follow. They are zero offset Konig Rewinds. The Watanabes are in reserve and I'm off to Thailand tonight so may bring back more 15"s from Bangkok. Charlie And here how it looked before.

Yes, I will be bringing it to CARS. MOT, Tax, battery charge, oil and water for it next weekend and some driving to blow the cobwebs off. I'm still a little alarmed at the lack of give in the suspension after we lowered it. It's like driving round on an iron bed frame.

Looking very smooth. Your new wheels suit it a lot better than the old ones. One bullet chrome mirror FTW! Ps I also have jacking issues with the Allegro, the jacking point is so low to the ground I can't get a trolley jack under the front and have put loads of effort in with a stupid scissor jack. And every time I jack it up I worry that the rear window might pop out like they did in period

Spot on - I love it. If I were you I'd be driving past big shop front windows just looking at the car's reflection. The new rims are exactly right on the car. I'm going to have to have another look. ;D

Those look great. Rewinds are the business and cheap too. I had some 7x14's and they were under £300 including airmail from the States. Didn't realise the 15's were zero offset. The 14's are something like -9 and look pretty fat.

jolly good show. ;D to quote rmad from a thread many moons ago, when id just lowered my benz the best advice i can give you is drive whichever wheel you want off onto a brick.you'll get the jack under no problem then.

"the best advice i can give you is drive whichever wheel you want off onto a brick.you'll get the jack under no problem then."
Actually I made a stepped ramp of bits of wood for one wheel then pushed the car up the ramp so one wheel was three inches up on wood, then got the jack under. I have to say this is going to be tedious to do every time I want to get under it. Maybe it would help if the battery was charged and I could drive it back and forward.
I think the ultimate J look comes from the back suspension being at an angle and the rims being tucked right up so I may take an angle grinder to the original springs and see if I can get another 2 inches from the back and front for a total 5 inches drop at each end.
We'll see.
Charlie
